🧵 … Why don't I simply use #MainStage on #macOS?
It's the standard #plugin #host for keyboarders using #AudioPlugin live. It's about 35€, plus around 400€ for a #MacBookM1 used. Oh well.
It only runs #AudioUnit plugins.
Also, the #Roland #GI20 interface to their #gk3b bass #MIDI pickup isn't out completely… and the GI20 via USB only runs with Linux these days, not with macOS or Windows. Too old. And I do own Linux-capable boxes, even spare ones…
Writing this, I notice that things like these are exactly part of the reason why I never used anything PC or Mac live on stage. I spent gazillions on hardware synths, because… they work. They use a MIDI data protocol from 1982, via a connector from 1982 and it works.
Now I am sitting here, trying to figure out how to switch a preset in a software. A function, for which all of my hardware synthesizers do have buttons (well, except for the Waldorf Rocket, which doesn't store presets).
Feeling stupid now.
