I'm grateful that I was born in seemingly the last generation where having a different opinion was either seen as simply silly or daringly genius.

I'm very grateful not to have been born more recently, where having a different opinion means you get ridiculed into oblivion or forced to have the same opinion as the brainless and brainwashed masses.

Normal does not mean good.

What I dislike most about #cancelculture is the fact that the people doing it know the power of boycotting, but they mostly use it to #boycott what people say or believe in.

Governments and #BigTech are destroying privacy, a critical pillar of democracy, with the goal of doing the same thing that cancel culture is about.

That is, controlling what people are allowed to say (dissent/freedom of speech) and controlling what people believe in (culture/family).

I'm capturing the pivotal stories in my life, alongside writing about remote work, believing the two threads intertwine. Non fiction, "do this get that" has been my go-to approach for decades. Memorializing the time my dad dropped me off at the mall when I was 9 to buy my own school clothes requires finding, then using, a new set of mental muscles and is scaring the crap out of me.
