In 1997, legendary Beatles producer George Martin visited Beach Boys genius Brian Wilson at his California home, for the documentary "The Rhythm of Life", to dissect the original multi-track master tapes of "God Only Knows".

Martin played the role of a musical detective, soloing different instrumental and vocal elements of the '66 classic, on a portable mixing setup, while Wilson watched.
