I've been rather into die cutting recently.
I picked up a second Sizzix Big Shot at a thrift store recently, so I now have one at home and one that I can take on the road with me.
It feels a little luxurious to have two, but the reality is with tools I intend to use a lot, I find having one for home and one for travel means when I'm home, I can just walk in and get to work and not have to set up and tear down which is something that often is an obstacle to my creativity.
Mind you, with my travel one I'm still sometimes struggling to take it in from the car, but at least it's now an option!
Snapped this shot of a scrap sitting on a keyboard, and had then had some editing fun.

My intention a lot of the time with the paper making is to use it as an art supply to make mixed media collage pieces, but in practice I tend to struggle to use the paper I make.
Making the paper feels fun, using the paper feels risky.
But today, I made a paper strip collage.
Do I love it right now? Not really.
Might I do more with it? Probably.
Will I try this method again? Maybe. Possibly on a smaller substrate.

I've been taking the time to sort through gelli prints today, and oh boy... I have an intimidating pile of "needs more work" and "cut me up" papers.
I may need to lie down from overwhelm. 😅

Experimenting: water-soluble oil pastel and dilute gouache on the gelli plate.
Start by rolling out a good layer of clear acrylic gesso, to create a workable surface, but work with a light touch, as it's fragile.
Next time I'd dip the pastels in water so they slide better.

Playing with spraying alcohol or water (fine spray or bigger droplets) onto acrylic paint, on the gelli plate. #fun
Tips:
▪ I used heavy body, and first thinned the paint a lot with retarder. Thinning with water wasn't as good.
▪ pickup sheet was raw Xuan rice paper (very absorbent)
▪ remove the pickup sheet after a few seconds, to get all the details. Else it spreads and blurs./cc @nikkiana :-)

Today's bracelet is a black and white swirl.
One of the things I love about these is they're so easy and very procedural. The first steps of making the base are so mindless that I can do it even if I don't feel like it.
