Plus, I realize my prior rationalization was false: I was not donating time to a galgo; I was helping someone get to the theatre.
Maybe it's wrong to look at it that way, I dunno, but that's the thing that stuck.
I don't even know this person except via trusted friend, adding to the complications.

Got a photo on our pre-dinner walk. He's now on my bed, snuggling with the orange cat.
All his ribs still showing, nervous and twitchy, but a truly gentle soul.

Poor guy has scars down his front and across his hindquarters from being abused, and he's missing two of his canines.
But he's a sweetie.
Every year, more than 50,000 galgos, podencos and other hunting dogs are neglected and dumped by hunters.
They are in a suspended area of Spanish law at present--suspended because hunters are contesting it.
Why we are not hunting the hunters for sport, I don't know.
