I was listening to a podcast talking about #clocks from #BITD (looks over @magethepodcast ) and I was thinking about changing from clocks to #dials and #gages. Your speedometer isnβt a clock so why stick to only that method? But you can run down your gas to ramp up your speed.
So my question here is: is there a game that already works this way?

Inferring River Discharge From Google Earth Images - Critical Flow Theory Can Predict River Discharge Based On The Spacing Of Standing Waves Captured By Google Earth Images

ββ¦ KEY POINTS:
β’ Standing waves in rivers indicate unique hydraulic conditions that allow depth and velocity to be inferred from the spacing of the waves
β’ Critical flow theory can be used to calculate discharge based on measurements of wavelength and width made using readily available images
β’ Discharges estimated via the critical flow approach for 82 images agreed closely with discharges recorded at gaging stations (RΒ² = 0.98)β¦β
