A little update on the Fyre Festival Fiasco.
After the original Fyre festival fell apart, organiser Billy McFarland served four years for fraud. Fresh out of jail, Billy unveiled "Fyre Festival 2" which promptly flopped and was "indefinitely postponed".
So Billy auctioned the Fyre Festival brand, including its "trademarks, IP, digital assets, media reach, and cultural capital" (sic!).
A company called LimeWire paid $245,300 for the package. This is not the early 2000s file-sharing LimeWire but another outfit which bought the original brand and turned it into a marketplace for NFTs.
So a cryptobro company which sells NFTs bought the rights to a festival which is synonymous with bad organisation.
Serves them right.

Hmmm. Fyre 2 was due to start on May 30th in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico.
Once again Billy McFarland has failed to get his act together & no venue has been secured in Mexico.So the festival has been "postponed" while the boys try to secure another venue... in another country.
I wonder how many people bought tickets costing from $1,400 to $25,000? Plus there are eight “Prometheus God of Fyre” $1m packages, for suckers only.

I know better than to underestimate the stupidity of people, but even then: who would buy tickets for Fyre 2? Everyone knows by now what a total scam and shit show Fyre is. But then again Trump also got reelected. Clearly there’s no cure for stupid.

For between $1,400 and $1.1m per ticket you can be a victim of Fyre Festival II. It's supposedly being held on Isla Mujeres, an island off Mexico.
However the local government knows nothing about it. Neither do any of the luxury hotels Fyre claims as "partners". No acts have been named.
A local tourism official adds, "If you go on their website and take the coordinates they provide, then put them in Google Maps, it takes you to the ocean."
That sums it up.

I (a raver) was just exposed to a fucking disgusting Youtube commercial for "Rave rebels" which is apparently some fucking "indoor rave festival" in Belgium and if you'd be a such a fuckhead to buy a ticket, you'd get the fucking honour to choose between two fuckproducts: either a "Raver Ticket" (€ 59.95) or a "Rock Star Rebel" (€ 149.50), the latter "incl 50 euro bar spend / private parking / separate entrance / separate lockers / private toilets / access to the comfort deck with extra seating".
I'm not fucking joking, btw, keep raving the fuck out of these fuckers. Wish them #Fyre.

我的所有 subscription 里最划算的应该是 Netflix 了，尤其今年，真的有种每天打开都能被推送新的感兴趣的不同领域的打开新世界大门的节目，可以随时 explore 真的比“听说一个安利才去主动找资源”的效率和体验强不知道多少倍了。我感觉很多想我一样那个年代中国长大的人根本没有意识到优秀内容平台能带来的被动发现的价值，反而觉得“反正都能找到资源所以没必要花钱“。让我听口碑去主动找，我大概永远也不会看到诸如 #TheTrialsOfGabrielFernández #DelhiCrime #Disclosure #Unorthodox #WeAreTheChampions #FYRE #Unbelievable 这种极为优秀但并没有多流行的片子，或者了解到广为使用的某些医学用料的风险、世界各地小众但有一群 passionate 爱好者的运动、拉美小岛毒枭宝藏的传说、社交网络营销诈骗大案、狂热宗教领袖在美国本土建起一个乌托邦小镇跟当地民众冲突乃至背后的兴衰等等。Awareness 在这个信息过载的时代太重要了，很多时候不是你“找不到”，而是你根本不知道一个东西存在。是消磨时间，也是被动摄入知识，这个年代早就不是万般皆下品，唯有读书高了。
新一代的中国年轻人稍微好一点因为有内容消费意识，但是国际互联网视频网站诸如 Netflix、YouTube 的码率远高于国内视频平台，同一个 1080p/4K 分辨率根本不能代表什么，实际画质比国内平台好太多了（last time I checked），就不用说实际内容质量的工业水平差距，和中国很多东西根本拍不了播不了了。
（所以就对人都到墙外了还只看国内视频平台和微信公众号的 peer 感到非常遗憾）

Just watched the #Fyre Festival documentary on Netflix and I kept thinking:
This is what the western obsession about entrepreneurs leads to.
We're forcing the real inventors, activists and community leaders to describe themselves with the same term as Silicon Valley hustlers and scammers. There are grants and awards for "young entrepreneurs", and it's so much easier to call a hackerspace "an accelerator".
Do we really want to promote hustling and scamming as vital values in our society?
