Maybe, just maybe, if the free to air tv corps had another go at their business model and brought it up date, they wouldn’t need freeking gambling adds in the first place. Of course, this would entail a complete rethink of entertainment services and the platforms used as well as funding models (and initially at least a cut in the profit margins that would bite).

Upshot it, I don’t care about commercial channels going under! It certainly does not warrant govt intervention or subsidies (in whatever form). Time to stick it up the corporates’ arse ps IMHO.

  2. Looks like the "Schedule" might be less of a schedule and more of a "list of things we're showing or have shown".

At 09:16, there's now 17 "Live" events today, the last of which is the Judo at 09:12.

  3. "Formula E London season finale to be shown on free-to-air TV in UK"

Hurrah! I don't have to wait for it to be on the website!

    *reads article*
*looks at streaming-only TV with no Freeview or Freesat*

Or not. It's on Quest. You know, one of those filler channels that most people ignore 😐

  4. Mexico City ePrix is available on the Formula E website (if you missed it last weekend because you don't want to pay the ridiculous prices for TNT Sport).

Just needs a free registration. Hopefully better than YouTube with the badly timed and excessive ad breaks.

  5. #FreeToAir #TV vs #ASTRA (#streaming services) are each a bunch of rent seekers squabbling over the "right" for everyone's attention.

And just as the "invisible hand of the market" decrees, the outcome will be decided by who has the better paid lobbyists.

(NARRATOR: Dave does not own a television, and mostly has no idea what he would see on it if he did.)

  6. I don't watch a lot of #FreeToAir TV, so the ads playing during the #WWC #MatildasVsDen game are quite something. I guess these are the ones with high production values too.

Already heard one using a #Tinnitus sound effect though...

And yes, we say #television show in full seriousness, in this context; namely #communityTelevision.

The great irony is that #freeToAir television could conceivably form a frontline in this war against the #dotCons.

Imagine a communiry show that presents people building and refurbishing #computers rather than (mind the pun) "flipping" #realEstate.

  9. We've noticed that that #corporateMedia are re-running old series during #COVID on their #freeToAir networks. Is it to force people into using proprietary #surveillance platforms, like #AmazonPrime, #Netflix and others?

Or is there no truely good content being produced, worthy to be shown to everyone?

It reminds us of the #juicySteak scene in #TheMatrix. You know the scenes from #Friends, where they all meet in the #coffeeShop are old and no longer even represent society, #postCOVID. The…(1/2)
