I have dozens of fountain pens including Pelikan, Parker, etc., their nibs and ink flow are all excellent, but none of them are as enjoyable as this 3-dollar fountain pen: the Penbbs 494.
With its acrylic and piston build, plus a Pilot-style nib and ergonomic grip, it's incredibly fun to use.

I splurged on a pen boxed set that #PenChalet has on sale for today and applied a 10% #FountainPenDay discount as well. Monteverde’s pen shaped homage to Piet Mondrian’s Broadway Boogie-Woogie. It’s a limited edition and comes in a lovely box with a bottle of ink with a label that also references the artwork. I chose the flex nib for it.
Mondrian is one of my favorite artists. @christi3k once sent me a postcard of this piece of artwork from NYC, postmarked on my birthday. I’ve been eyeing this pen set ever since I first saw it.
No deals on the #DiamineInk I wanted from the black edition (2024) of the #InkventCalendar, but I’m happy to have found the three I wanted full bottles of.

Had a Prefounte and two Preppy pens to refill so I figured I'd try some fluorescent inks in them. Works just fine, though the Pennonia ink really wants a wider/juicier nib than a Platinum EF/02.
Added the TWSBIs to the sheet because they were handy, and the reason will be apparent in my next post.

I've been using fountain pens since I was a boy. Relatively uncommon in the US, I was first introduced to them when my family moved to Germany in the 1980s.

A couple more for Fountain Pen Day. Asvine C80 in Cobalt Blue w/Stub nib inked with Akkerman Out of the Blue.
I really like these Akkerman bottles, but the size makes having many of them impractical so I'll be forced to limit myself (which is good). Filling pens out of them is super easy, though. The color is a nice medium blue.
The C80 writes super smoothly but has no clip/stop to wants to roll away easily. Looks great, but keep an eye on it!

They look cool and the top is an inkwell sealed off by a marble. Main problem is they're tall and won't stack, so storage is tricky. The ink seems good so far, especially the color.
The new Preppy is as good as ever, and can't go wrong with cats, however (1/2)

I decided to use a proxy shipping service to order some items from the Sailor Pen Guild, since they only shipped to the U.S., as well as some #FountainPenDay items since they're the same. They arrived yesterday, & while the FPD items were fine, the Sailor items were completely mullered. The pins & black sticker had some damage but should be useable. Unfortunately the nib stickers are wrecked 😭

My main #FountainPenDay pen arrived yesterday, which was pretty good going considering it came from across the pond! A Lamy 2000 Stainless Steel with a BB nib. It was only £20 more than the Makrolon, so why not?
I decided to go with a BB instead of my usual F since I wanted this to be a platform for a future grind. Not sure what that'll be yet, but there's a whole lot of tipping on there for them to work with. Still fun to write with in its current state.

A little post-Halloween/fountain pen day accounting work. The best kind of accounting, candy distribution numbers. Yet again, sour candies were the most popular but I still need to dump all this into a spreadsheet for good measure.
Things like this are why I like Japanese style EF fountain pens. Try cramming all that in with a larger nib and it either wouldn't fit or would be even more illegible due to my hasty scratching.

So far all the Fountain Pen Day sales are a miss for me. Lots of decent sales, but the things I was looking for are either not on sale or out of stock. Makes it easier to keep myself out of trouble. Should make lots of other people happy, though.
Best thing I've seen so far is Atlas Stationers has Platinum 3776 pens for $150 which is over $100 less than usual. But the only nib I'd want one in right now is a Music nib and they're all sold out.
