i think the intro and outro of #focusmate sessions are really important - to me at least - because i get to set task-goals and then review them at the end of session. too often, when i don't use focusemate i get lost for hours in things and then run out of time. so, it's not just that you are focused, that you are working all this time, it's also this retrospective/self-reviewing aspect of this virtual co-working that makes it very valuable.

Has anyone tried Focus Mate before? https://www.focusmate.com

I'm wondering if it's useful or just awkward.

I judge people too quickly.

This morning I was using #focusmate and when I joined my session the other person was off camera but there was a lot of noise going on. I was frustrated, yet once the person arrived they explained a bird had flown into the house and they and their kids had been trying to catch it.

Knowing the explanation removed all my frustration and we laughed together about the situation (now resolved).

Today I have blocked most of my time using #Focusmate so that I can focus on my #AWS training. If this works, I’ll be doing it everyday going forward so that I may complete the first and then several more certifications

working on trans.fail/xenotopic.network - possible improvements, adding layers of sounds, improving timeline of sound events, visual developments... performing it on 9/may, stream possibly provided by @g1smo

keeping focused with a little help of coworkers.

Now three more #focusmate sessions and then I will *so* call it a day and treat myself to something nice, and also to doing something fun.

yesterday was full of #FocusMate sessions and it felt pretty awesome. Should do them today too.

#FocusMate kept me away from masto for most of the day.

And some pretty nice work in #Renoise today. yay. the track is almost finished. now so more polishing - not today - Take Breaks!, I can do it forever, the polishing, but it might really be something out on my :bandcamp: on the last day of this month, yay!

Happy to use #FocusMate again.

I had a fallout with it because of all the chaos with pandemic I missed number of the scheduled sessions and the system penalized me - not too much - but it left me with a disfunctional feeling and just wasn't motivated to use it.

Also, not motivated to do the work, as a matter of fact.

Today I'm recovering from that feeling.

No practice so far today. Music is being forced into the back seat these days ...

On the other hand, I'm using #focusmate to get it n top of my business to-do list and it's awesome.

Also, after decades of life without a driver's license, I'm finally going to driving school. It's going to be a few months, probably (and a ton of money), but come summer, I might be driving cars.

Today I'm grateful to #FocusMate for "I'm moving forward every day" feeling. I was so hungry for it. I'm holding back excitement as I'm afraid this little magic will pass/fail too quickly.

Sorry if it sounds I'm plugging, since I'm not. But it worked for me for these four days and that's a new thing for me - to be focused so much without much distractions.

Off to Italy in an hour or so.

Today I finished "Understanding Streams, Patterns, and Events" tutorial and my head is spinning a little. It's not _that_ new material, but there's some depth to it, subjectively speaking, that is just a bit overwhelming. But I feel I'm progressing, which is totally very good.

On the other hand I had three (3!) no shows today on #FocusMate.

BTW I actually worked for 5 50min sessions today which is great! So far the #FocusMate thing is working pretty well. Now if only I would be able to asses the speed of progress more realistically in advance.

I've scheduled 5 #FocusMate sessions for tomorrow. I wonder how'll that work. In some way I'm really hopeful this could work as a long term strategy to be able to actually achieve things on another level - the level heavily dependent on disciplined work.

Too bad they based the users community on f*book - a closed group!

I had a fantasy how it would be amazing if FocusMate would be a floss software like Loomio for example. Self-hostable. They are using Jitsi already anyway.

Experimenting and getting experience with focusmate.com. Finished by fourth session (first one today) and so far so good, I've been focused for whole 50 minutes on what was the task I wanted to focus on.

Been thinking if the 'complete stranger' that is on the other side plays a big role? Would it work with someone you 'know' better? An acquaintance from fedi?

Would anyone from here want to experiment?
