Actually to avoid burying the lede, am interested in automatic floor plan feature extraction and detection (extract walls, and fixtures, detect doors and ovens, etc). Maybe using OpenCV or other off the shelf techniques and/or FOSS libraries where possible.

Any pointers or good leads appreciated, boosts also welcome. :)

moments of revelations.. i was a fan of the "google sketchup" tool, and realised recently it was bought out and is now a paid tool (if you want an offline version, online is free but doesn't suit my use case).

I ended up spending so much time looking for 'layout tools' for houses, going through different free/paid tools.

i did not look at what was just staring in front of me all the time.

i am totally unaware that there's a template/stencil in visio to do this. :blobfacepalm:​
