I stepped away from the news this weekend and found joy.
1) It was the first time this year it has been warm enough for me to wear shorts in Chicago π©³
2) My kids were with me for the weekend and I took my younger daughter kite flying, which was so much fun πͺ
3) Saw a rainbow next to our rainbow kite π -
Quiet Moment the the Day:
Someone made plushie computers. Aren't they cute?
It's a silly thing, but silly is fun! Let yourself smile and laugh. You are here to enjoy life, not just survive it.

It's not only a birthday present, it's an affirmation that self-care is crucial lol
My daughter looks forward to her quiet weekend mornings, just sipping coffee and watching the world roll by - hopefully, a lap quilt will stretch "porch season" just a little bit further for her :)

Welp... the sun is up and it is Saturday. I could put in a load of laundry and do some puttering around the house... but I also have a new (to me) Joe Haldeman, The Worlds Trilogy: Book 1 to crack open.
Decisions. Decisions.

We definitely live in what's known as flyover country - bleakly ho-hum at times, especially in late winter, but also beautiful.

Closed for winter? More likely The Midway is closed forever after its last shutdown in 2012 was due to a lack of available 35-mm film prints.
The drive-in was built in 1955, midway between Turkey & Quitaque, Texas - New York & L.A.

I once stopped and asked directions from the postmistress in Pandora, Texas (population 125), and received one of those answers that you only get in a small town, "Just go on down to where the railroad tracks used to be and turn right."
Did I ever find where the RR tracks used to be? No, not a trace of those old tracks remained. Did I find my way? Yes... eventually. But without the hazy instructions, I never would've stumbled on this moody oak.

It's an understatement to say that Texas has some interesting courthouses. A few are noteworthy, but most just look tired - as if they've been chewed up, spit out and stepped on like Bowser's bone.
The courthouse in Coryell County has never been a favorite, but sometimes... when the air has been washed clean after a summer rain and the sun is shining? Well, ymmv, but it makes me feel weirdly hopeful.
