Was doing some thinking about the #fediDating tag. I almost wonder if the reason it doesn't really work is cuz ppl aren't including enough information in their posts?
Like, I scroll through it sometimes, and nobody is really explaining where they're from, or how old they are, or what genders they're after, and what kinda thing they're after.
Or maybe there's a deeper story to why the tag doesn't really work? Thoughts?

Features I would love include the basic intro to feel how we can thrive together and give back to the world. Maybe ability to post a few pictures of what we like, such as a shot of our open source laptop, pets, bicycling, hiking, etc...
What features do I not want? Identity scraping sold to lists and billionaires that attempt to capture our basic freedoms and exploit our mere existence. What safety features do I need to feel safe? The ability to avoid having my identity included in a list sold to billionaire think tanks used to control my future.

I don't think, that it will work. My native language is Russian (and I live in Russia), but I don't believe, that I can found **long-term** relationship with a girlfriend here.
In fact, I no longer believe that I will ever be happy in my life.
But I don't like being alone, so I decided to try it. I like astronomy, economics, you can read my description, BDSM is not essential for me (just DS/psydom/femdom kink sometimes).
I'm handsome and smart 🥹

Like I feel like my Fediverse/Mastodon profile gives more space to succinctly express my values and interests. And my Mastodon posts and boosts reveal more info about me that is relevant in a looking-for-significant-other/soulmate context than silly dating app questions or prompts.
Maybe this has been done already and I am out of the loop, but what if we did some sort of "Fedi-dating" thing where we use a specific hashtag, e.g. #fedidating in a post that contains a blurb and basic/outline dating info/preferences/etc. We can also use hashtags for our location, like for me I would use #chicago.
I realize that there are significant privacy concerns with this with regard to posting personal and even intimate details on the public Internet. But it's just an idea, maybe we can build upon it, or discard it entirely, I dunno.

@flo @fesix Ich persönlich warte/hoffe ja noch auf das #FediDating... also ein #Dating-Konzept, das mehr in die normalen Sozialen Medien integriert ist und keine komplett eigene/separierte Welt wie bisherige #Datingseiten, wo man zwar nach 🍆-Größe, nicht aber nach bestimmten Interessen filtern kann. Aktuell ist Dating zu sehr Selbstzweck und viel zu oberflächlich.
Und vielleicht bringt ja Mastodon auch irgendwann noch mal Circles...
