Stop bringing them to the table as equals (I’m thinking specifically of you, Scott Jennings) and demanding proof for all of their lies instead of trying to joust with them. When they loudly challenge your socially positive position and suggest you are for crime, terrorism, or some kind of “perversion” of “Christian values” simply tell them that’s stupid and get back to demanding proof for their actions.
They have little to no proof, and often use tiny kernels of truth to spin into outrageously vast conspiracies against America itself. Make the encounter simple. Don’t let them legitimize their lies by debating on a level playing field. They aren’t just putting a thumb on the scale, but piling it full of the corpses of all the people and institutions that they’ve killed in their crusade for power and control.
Demand proof. Over and over and over and over and over again. Chip away at their false shields. Over time, the sycophants will retreat to more favorable outlets and their lies will reach fewer people.
And remember, when you debate with them in the traditional style you are facilitating their lies. CNN’s NewsNight with Abby Phillip is a primary example of platforming MAGA to appear as legitimate movements on par with every other political alignment. There are ALWAYS two MAGA adherents facing off against neoliberals, progressives, democratic socialists… literally all other groups. An impressive article by Kim Kelly places the Prairieland conviction in historical context and spans the arc of eight activists, in Chicago in 1886, who were allegedly part of the "Haymarket Uprising".
Just being associated with anarchism was enough to make a man appear guilty, and in the end, four of the eight men hung for it.
It tells the story of Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, Italian anarchists, who ended on the gallows in 1927.
