  1. Got around to writing up on the site about a visit to Exeter Cathedral we took in 2014 today (you can't rush these things) and hadn't realised at the time that the cathedral has the longest, uninterrupted, medieval, stone vaulted ceiling in the world. Fabulous Norman/Gothic architecture and very interesting memorials and reliefs within the building.

  2. This is the usual view of #ExeterCathedral, which is nearing 1000 years in age. It holds the record that its #nave has the longest uninterrupted gothic vaulting in the world. Being in the middle of the city, just off the high street, it’s really easy to get to on foot or by #bike.

  3. Fab day in the city, today, of theatre and arts meetings- both the planned ones and the unplanned- when someone comes up to you recognising the theatre company name and reputation, and wanting to discuss involvement with you- an extra impromptu and very positive meeting happened. (Absolutely not complaining as was also very productive)
Great seeds have been sown today.

  4. Luke Jerram’s “Mars: War and Peace” has arrived in Exeter Cathedral. H and I visited the predecessors (“Museum of the Moon” and “Gaia”) but I have to say that the day’s end light made a difference.

I particularly like the third photo - it looks as though Mars has materialised in the Cathedral like some weird Sci-fi film.

  5. Excavations at Exeter Cathedral reveal crypt and bishops’ tombs

Archaeological excavations at Exeter Cathedral have unearthed the long-lost foundations of the church’s 12th-century high altar, a medieval crypt, and the empty tombs of two historically significant bishops.

  10. Also, it's always grand to welcome the deaf community and their BSL interpreter to the 10am Eucharist every first Sunday of the month. I love watching, even though I know very little BSL - the use of the body, sign and gesture brings the prayers and readings alive in a different way.
