Only two days remain until my mother's birthday. 🎂🤍

I had hoped this day could be a chance to give back even a small part of everything she has endured. Over the past months, she has faced not only war, fear, and repeated displacement, but also the heartbreaking pain of three miscarriages, leaving deep physical and emotional scars that she still carries every day. 💔🕊️

Since then, her smile has become so rare. The weight of grief, trauma, and ongoing hardship has taken so much from her, and every day is simply another fight to keep going. 🥀

My greatest wish was to give her one moment of joy on her birthday—a reminder that she is seen, loved, and not forgotten. But so far, I haven't been able to raise enough support to make that possible.

While the world speaks of a “ceasefire,” reports continue to emerge of further horrific and devastating acts against civilians in Gaza. Military operations continue to expand, and control over new areas is shifting, with the so-called “Yellow Line” reportedly absorbing more than 71% of the territory — making many question whether this is truly a ceasefire or merely an illusion. 💔

As more than two million people endure siege, hunger, and displacement, and as families mourn their loved ones only to see more lives taken hour after hour, Benjamin Netanyahu is welcomed like a respected world leader, despite the arrest warrant issued against him by the International Criminal Court. ⚖️

What message does this scene send to us and to the world? 🌍 What remains of international justice if a person wanted by the International Criminal Court receives official honors and welcomes, while our suffering continues and acts described by many as a profound stain on humanity persist on the ground?

If ceasefire commitments are applied selectively, how can we believe that justice is not being used as a cover while grave violations continue?

Today was not an ordinary day in my life. It was one of the most beautiful days I have experienced in a very long time. Amid everything we have endured — fear, sadness, loss, and countless difficult moments — a small but precious moment returned something we almost forgot… happiness.

First and foremost, thanks to God, and then to every kind-hearted person who believed in our story and chose to extend a helping hand, I was able to fulfill a simple wish for my mother on her birthday. I gifted her this necklace, a gift that carries love, gratitude, and the kindness of so many beautiful souls.

I cannot describe the look in her eyes when she saw it, or the smile that appeared on her face after months of exhaustion and sadness. It was a genuine smile, as if she had regained a small part of herself that life’s hardships had taken away. For a few precious hours, she was able to forget the psychological pain and heavy burdens she has carried for so long.

The most beautiful thing about this gift was not the necklace itself, but the feeling it brought to her heart: that she is not alone, that there are people around the world who still see our humanity and believe that bringing happiness to a tired mother’s heart is something worth doing.

I will never forget this moment, and neither will my mother. You gave her a day filled with peace, and you gave me a memory that I will carry in my heart forever.

Imagine a group of human beings being trapped in a confined place, unable to escape or return to a normal life, while violence is inflicted upon them day after day for two and a half years.

Imagine death becoming part of their daily lives. Imagine losing loved ones before their eyes, children waking to fear instead of safety, homes becoming memories, schools becoming postponed dreams, and hospitals becoming places where there are simply not enough resources to save everyone.

Then add hunger.

Imagine a mother searching for a piece of food to quiet her children’s hunger, but finding none. Imagine water becoming a wish, medicine becoming a luxury, and bread becoming something counted piece by piece. Imagine living every day without knowing whether what you have today will last until tomorrow.

And the cruelest part of all?

For two and a half years, these people keep raising their voices.

They say: We are suffering.
We are hungry.
Our children are afraid.
Our sick need medicine.
Please, stop this suffering.
Please, help us.

And the world hears them.

It sees their photographs.
It reads their words.
It watches their tears.
It knows they are trapped, hungry, frightened, and that they did not choose this life.

And yet… the days pass.

Then the months.

Then one year… then two… and another year draws closer to its end.

And one question remains suspended in the air:

What happens to a human being when violence and hunger do not only destroy their body, but slowly consume their heart as they cry out for help and find no one reaching back?

There is a kind of pain that wounds cannot describe, a kind of hunger that numbers cannot measure, and a kind of loss that words can never repair.

And there is something even more devastating than suffering alone:

Suffering in full view of the world, knowing the world sees your pain, and then watching the world become accustomed to your cries.

After two and a half years, we are not asking to be seen as numbers, nor for our suffering to become another passing headline.

We only ask the world to remember that behind every number is a human being who once had a home, a face they loved, a child with dreams, a mother waiting for their return, and a life they deserved to live in safety.

Today, I took my mother to her monthly medical check-up, an appointment we have always tried to keep. But I couldn’t afford the cost because debt continues to surround us from every side. Today, what we owe has reached $225, even before covering the food and basic necessities I mentioned before.

The doctor told us that the cyst on my mother’s ovary has shrunk by 1 cm, but it is still there, so she needs to restart her treatment and continue taking her medication. 💔 This means more costs we simply cannot afford while debt continues to weigh heavily on us.

If there is a kind person, organization, or anyone who can help us pay off this debt and provide my mother’s medication and our food, your help would be an enormous relief after all we have endured. 🙏❤️‍🩹

Today, I took my mother to her monthly medical check-up, an appointment we have always tried to keep. But I couldn’t afford the cost because debt continues to surround us from every side. Today, what we owe has reached $225, even before covering the food and basic necessities I mentioned before.

The doctor told us that the cyst on my mother’s ovary has shrunk by 1 cm, but it is still there, so she needs to restart her treatment and continue taking her medication. 💔 This means more costs we simply cannot afford while debt continues to weigh heavily on us.

If there is a kind person, organization, or anyone who can help us pay off this debt and provide my mother’s medication and our food, your help would be an enormous relief after all we have endured. 🙏❤️‍🩹

I wish, just once, I could give her something that truly reflects what she has given us throughout my entire life—even long before the genocide began.

My mother has always been our shelter. She stayed awake so we could feel safe. She exhausted herself so we could rest. She gave us the best she had, often hiding her own pain behind a smile filled with love and contentment. Her eyes always carried the words we needed most: “I’m here. Don’t be afraid. We will get through this.”

Through years of hardship, fear, displacement, and loss, she kept giving us strength when she had every reason to need strength herself.

And now, as her birthday approaches, I keep asking myself: What can I possibly give the woman who has given me everything?

I have no beautiful gift to wrap. No special celebration to prepare. No safe home where I can gather our family around a birthday cake.

All I have is the love she has filled my heart and soul with—and this little attempt to bring some light back into her heart.

Perhaps the cruelest part is being a little girl carrying burdens that even adults struggle to bear.

🎒 While other children think about school and play, I wake up wondering how I can find food for my family. While others dream about their future, I spend my days trying to support my mother and father as they suffer, doing everything I can to help my family survive one more day.

🆘 Every day, I write another plea. I open my heart and share a piece of our pain, hoping my words reach someone who can ease this burden. I know many people see my posts. I know our story reaches others. Yet the days keep passing, and we are still waiting.

That morning looked like so many mornings of war… a heavy sky, exhausted faces, and children carrying stories far bigger than their age. 💔

I returned to an UNRWA summer camp, searching for a small piece of the life we lost among the ruins. I was looking for the school that once held our laughter, our dreams, and my two dear friends — Yaqeen and Qamar. 🕊️

They were more than friends. They were my childhood. We sat together in class, shared our little secrets, laughed at simple things, and wrote dreams in our notebooks that we believed would grow with us. 📚✨
