why should I install the #elkzone app if I can run it via browser? tried it, but I don't see the advantages instead of having one more app @elk

Forgive my gushing, but I'm just loving #Elk / #ElkZone / https://elk.zone / @elk

Based on preliminary testing, I'd be totally comfortable with this as my main interface (at least on faster machines, as I'm fond of daily driving 10+ year old thinkpads from time to time XD) for GtS, and I wouldn't miss the Mastodon web UI.

In case it's useful for anyone, I came across two nice #Mastodon web apps: @elk at https://elk.zone/ (responsive but especially great for larger screens) and @phanpy at https://phanpy.social/ (great on mobile with nice at-a-glance thread summaries and clustered boosts) #elkzone #PhanpySocial

A recent fix in GoToSocial has fixed a long-standing bug that prevented the Elk web client from bringing in new posts after the user leaves the browser tab and then returns.

This means I can now use this excellent client for this GTS account.

Hmm 🤔, hat außer mir noch jemand Probleme mit dem Tool #elkzone?

So I think, I know why some Fedi clients fail to fetch custom emojis from my instances. GoToSocial requires authorization for emoji API endpoint, Mastodon doesn't. I guess, that some apps that were forked from the official Android Masto app implemented the second solution, while checking for custom emojis. So Moshidon or Megalodon won't load custom emojis. Unfortunately Fedilab, probably, implemented similar solution. Which is a bummer, since it was my favourite app on Android. :neocat_woozy_256:

So I've spent some time playing around with different #Mastodon webclients. Out of #ElkZone, #Litterbox, #Pinafore, #Phanpy, #Trunks, #Mastodeck and #Brutaldon I've found Elk and Pinafore to be my favorites (single column, clean look and sufficiently large text).

Was wondering if anyone know of any other great web clients though as always looking for new ones (especially self-hostable).

Love the plethora of clients available in the Fediverse! 😄

@kate @[email protected] I'm using one now. I have #elkzone https://elk.zone installed as a PWA as my primary Mastodon mobile client. (But on Android — I didn't original see the context of the poll of iOS users.)

It doesn't have to be full support for quote toots, but I really fucking wish that when I'm in #elkzone and I click on a link to a toot, I stayed in Elk instead of opening the link in a browser and then becoming unable to like and boost without some copy and pasting of URLs back into elk again.

#elkzone just signed me out of all my accounts. That was weird. @elk

Some weird #ElkZone bug. Two posts gets mangled together in my notifications. @elk

Maybe you want oslo.town to look a little more like Twitter? @elk is a fresh way of browsing oslo.town and you can sign in using your existing account.
