Despite the derogatory names and the low pay, certainly lower than her male counterparts, Elizabeth Alkin successfully operated in the spy world usually reserved for men, providing useful intel and always getting her man.
She was also a nurse who provided aid to combatants from both sides of the conflict.
Now that's a woman to serve as inspiration for future generations.
