Smartphone wallet: EU committees agree on a digital driving license.
Following intensive negotiations, representatives of the EU Parliament, the Council of Ministers and the Commission agreed on new common standards for driving licenses throughout the EU.
A uniform digital driving license should be available to all EU citizens before the end of 2030. It will be stored in a future digital wallet for the European Digital Identity (EUDI).

Congratulations, this is a very important step. A car is a deadly machine if not handled properly.
Of course, there needs to be public transport so no one gets isolated.But e.g. in Germany, the car-addiction of society and the strong lobby makes it impossible to pass even legislation for regular license renewals including aptitude tests mandatory. 🙄
As so often, other countries are more developed.

Had an unexpected driving test today... Because 10 years experience on 2 continents is apparently not enough for a license renewal. Frigid stupid bureaucracy of Mexico I guess!
But somehow I passed - Both theory and practical. Lucky me!
Wish my mom luck for hers tomorrow.

Got my renewed drivers license back & oddly do still have the ability to drive all those daft sized vehicles and trailers despite being told by Dvla to tick no.
Submitted an attricious photo. Oddly unlike my last license they turned it into black & white and one side of my face is in shadow. How that go through? #UK #DrivingLicense -
Got to renew my driving license but because of extra categories listed (is it a legacy thing to be able to drive C1, D1, C1E etc?) it says I can't do it online. How am I allowed to drive these vehicles? #UK #DrivingLicense #drivinglicenserenewal
