I used this quote on the acknowledgement page of my PhD dissertation, and I tampered with BibTeX so that the citation appeared at number 42. I thought it made it into the final copy, but apparently it didn’t.

Mir ist erst vor kurzem bewusst geworden, daß die Erde tatsächlich für so etwas profanes, wie Umgehungsstraßen bzw. den #Autoverkehr zerstört wird. 🤒

Der Gender-Stern ist ASCII- und Unicode-Point 42. Genau wie die Antwort im Anhalter und genau wie der Asterisk in Shell-Prompts, steht der #GenderStern für "Alle" und "Alles".
Dies mag nun alles Zufall sein, aber mit diesem Wissen es fühlt sich trotzdem falsch an, wenn queerfeindliche Menschen #DouglasAdams "42" zitieren.

I am yet to read the book, but I'll interested to see if he covers #DouglasAdams. Early Adams seems to me a perfect example, with his "the last sane man in the world" outlook, lampshaded by the character Wonko The Sane.
Like Python and #RobertHolmes, many of his observations came from satirising the white, male Oxbridge BBC from within.
I wonder if his later work was a reaction to this, with better female characters and a clinically depressed humanism which was almost Vonnegut-like in tone.
