"All the doors in this spaceship have a cheerful and sunny disposition. It is their pleasure to open for you, and their satisfaction to close again with the knowledge of a job well done."

"We can charge the Unnecessarily Painful Slow Death torpedoes on the trip. Hyperspace static will give them a little extra sting."
Jeltz nodded approvingly. "You, Mown, are an utter bastard."
"Thanks, Dad," he said. -

A quotation from Douglas Adams
Generally, old media don’t die. They just have to grow old gracefully. Guess what, we still have stone masons. They haven’t been the primary purveyors of the written word for a while now of course, but they still have a role because you wouldn’t want a TV screen on your headstone.
Douglas Adams (1952–2001) English author, humorist, screenwriter
Broadcast (2010-10-11), Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Future, ep. 2, “Publishing,” BBC Radio 4More about this quote: wist.info/adams-douglas/6001/

I usually give my cars names. I haven't done so with my current vehicle.
This morning I had a flash of inspiration for an ideal name, I'll call my car Prefect.
I have a Ford Grand Tourneo, so, it would be Ford Prefect.
Not only a former Ford model of car, also the character from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

The story so far:
In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move. -
Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun. Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-two million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue-green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea.

The current editor-in-chief, Stagyar-zil-Doggo, was a dangerously unbalanced man who took a homicidal view of contributing staff turning up in his office without pages of fresh, proofed copy, and had a battery of laser-guided guns linked to special scanning devices in the door frame to deter anybody who was merely bringing extremely good reasons why they hadn't written any. Thus was a high level of output maintained.

It was for the sake of this day that he had first decided to run for the Presidency, a decision which had sent waves of astonishment throughout the Imperial Galaxy—Zaphod Beeblebrox? President? Not the Zaphod Beeblebrox? Not the President? Many had seen it as a clinching proof that the whole of known creation had finally gone bananas.

> help hold a superhot cloud of charged particles called a plasma.Ah. This appears to be a meaning of the word "small" that I was previously unfamiliar with.

Ah, it's the #Glorious25thMay and #TowelDay to boot.

I hope you always know where your towel is and have a hard-boiled egg, reasonably priced love, and lilac nearby.

Today is a holiday in the Netherlands, but I wanted to get some work done. Two-step authenticator displayed this number. Do you think Life, the Universe and Everything are trying to tell me something? Excuse me while I go get my towel.

It can be very dangerous to see things from somebody else’s point of view without the proper training.

"Many were increasingly of the opinion that they'd all made a big mistake in coming down from the trees in the first place. And some said that even the trees had been a bad move, and that no one should ever have left the oceans".

@marcel Fein 😎

A very happy #TowelDay 😘
and to let you know, Douglas Adams not only kindly asked everyone #DontPanic, he also said:" I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by." 😉

@albinokid I’ve got a bunch, and it probably rotates by the day/week/month but here’s a for today list #JamesSACorey #nkjemisin #johnscalzi #stephenking #emilystjohnmandell I’m not sure how popular St John Mandell is, but hell, her books are amazing. If I were to boost only one on my current list, it would be her. Also, #JoeAbercrombie #chuckwendig #KenLiu #AndyWeir #ColsonWhitehead #MadelineMiller #FrankHerbert #JRRTolkein #MaryRobinetteKowal #DouglasAdams and #KurtVonnegut
