so we could celebrate it more

  30. unstructured #doompasta thoughts part 2:

    • .done as an alias for .duck(1).o(2).duckatt(number) is such a good idea! the abbreviation is kind of nonsense but whatever
    • in relation to that, basil-like syntax for strudel (so mondo strudel but newline also counts as #, and also maybe less confusing syntax?) is something I'd want, typing spaces and new lines instead of symbols would be pretty neat, and less having to fight with syntax errors
    • i'm not currently thinking about this so i ran out of thoughts for now

    • nudel client had so much technical issues! change sync was bad enough that some code half-existed and had no syntax highlighting. scroll layout kept resetting scroll, audio was being missed, hydra/basil running at 10 fps at best, and frequently needing reloads, even on a beefy desktop (though the browser seemed single thread limited for nudel, and maybe because my browser is weird)
    • (main room) all red including code and buttons is quite the theme
    • i still love that .cps overrides BPM and possibly even the nudel BPM limit
    • (main room) the last minute went from jam to noise and then complete breakdown, quite the noise
    • (pre-doom main room) i accidentally learned how to do >=180 bpm without it sounding like noise: less drums, same fast melody
    • (pre-doom main room) i definitely want to remember about the gm_marimba bank!
    • (pre-doom main room) i have tried doing melodies before now and i think i am getting the hang of it well enough that i will probably start doing them more
    • pastagang added on existing things better pre-doom than during-doom (though i guess the during-doom part was quite chaotic enough)
    • --fft in CSS is a thing?!
    • pre-doom's moment of more calm is something i should have more. too much energy
    • freq(1000).fast(8) is still my favorite snippet for making an annoying noise (airbus a320 master warning), surprised it lasted for long (though it was being drowned out by other very loud noises)
    • what the hell is a .rel (.release i guess)
    • (main room) i have a full recording and i'm not sure if i want to take up more of my server space to host it
    • (pre-doom main room) s("woodblock")
    • at the pre-doom time i was also working on server stuff (unrelated to anything here) and it was probably not a good idea to do it near doom jam time lmao

  38. where do i even begin my unstructured thoughts from #amro26 ...

    - pasta ribbons. pasta jewellery, pasta necklaces, pasta amulets, it's a thing! it's officially a thing! pastafemme accessories all across the crowd. i thought @janeishly was a bit bonkers at first getting so many people to get pasta'd up so early but OH MY GOD it brought results. it was a really nice "break from the noise" activity. go do some crafts with people in the other room and then return with MORE PASTA on you
