@gaditb @pastagang thanks, that's making sense to me. it sounds like muscle memory and it rings true. like... knowing the words of a mantra is one thing... understanding them is another thing.... and really *living* / embodying them is another thing

it reminds me of our workshop in #amro26 where we did an activity that was supposed to teach you about / give you practice with the "let code die" mantra: everyone was writing a piece of writing but it was intentionally frail / fragile so it was possible to lose all the writing at any moment. when it inevitably happened i felt shock and loss and "oh no" as if something had gone wrong. but like... then i remembered this was supposed to happen.. in fact we'd planned it this way... and like.... i dunno, committing a mantra to muscle memory is hard and takes time especially if it goes against some of your natural instincts

Still ~reflecting on #AMRO26 and the last workshop I went to - Zelda Diedrich's Reclaiming Memories, in which we discussed lost USB sticks, hardrives, work deleted in fits of pique, and ways to memorialise our hardware.

I had never seen the inside of a hard drive before and loved the shininess. Something really poignant that these metal scraps might long outlast us, unreadable and mysterious.

- pasta ribbons. pasta jewellery, pasta necklaces, pasta amulets, it's a thing! it's officially a thing! pastafemme accessories all across the crowd. i thought @janeishly was a bit bonkers at first getting so many people to get pasta'd up so early but OH MY GOD it brought results. it was a really nice "break from the noise" activity. go do some crafts with people in the other room and then return with MORE PASTA on you
