He said, "Okay, I want you to go to The Men's Hat Shop, tell them I sent you, and I'm buying you a cowboy hat." I was pretty shocked, but I thanked him a couple of times. This was probably the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, and I didn't have any intention of going to get the hat, but the next day, I decided I would take him up on it. I went to the Men's Hat Shop, I walked in and said, "This may sound strange, but Don Imus sent me here... he wanted to buy me a hat." The employee I spoke with said, "Oh yeah, Don does that a lot." So, I was fitted for the hat, and there it is... my cowboy hat story.

Regarding the cowboy hat photo I posted yesterday: I thought that photo was older than 4 years... it was... it's from 5 years ago. It popped up as a memory from 4 years ago because it must have been 4 years since Don Imus passed away. Don Imus bought that hat for me in 2004. When I was working mornings at KOAT in Albuquerque, his radio show producer in New York called our newsroom early one morning, asking if I could give him a weather forecast. Don ran the Imus Ranch between Santa Fe and Las Vegas at the time. He was going to fly in, and a blizzard was coming. So, I called in to his New York radio show and gave him the forecast on the air. He thanked me and asked me where I was from, I told him I was from Montana. He asked me if I owned a cowboy hat, and I told him I didn't. There was dead silence for a bit, and he then said, "Okay, do you know where Central is?" I said yes. (continued)
