I survived the storms.
I found my rescue.

No more deadbeat boyfriends.

From here on out, I’m embracing my best life:

This is Sir Maxwell Lang, he is the first CKCS I cared for. He started the love affair. He turned 13 this year. Sadly he has been diagnosed with CHF and has been admitted to the hospital overnight. 😥 The ER team has him resting comfortably and sleeping in the oxygen tent. Here's what happened since my last post. Trevor got adopted late 2024 by a wonderful person with a large extended family nearby. I've enjoyed updates from them, Trevor was allowed to go at his own pace and the typical loving CKCS temperment replaced the shy frightened one I picked up. We used to run a rescue, well, my wife and the board and I, and I remember tryign to explain it to a friend who just didn't understand how fostering worked---how we could let them go.
"I have to say, what we do can be very hard...lots of sad dogs, sad situations stupid stupid STUPID people....it's hard.
Fostering saves more than the one dog, too. By fostering, a space opens up for another stray, another hurt or abandonded dog, another unwanted litter. (We ALWAYS take the mother---always)
But when you see them wag their tails, well it's magical. They get over the fear. They come TO you, not run away from you.
Their broken bodies heal. Their broken spirits are mended. Their desire to please you grows.They play.
They get their hair back!
If they lose a leg, they figure it out.
THEN!
You find that person who takes them home. We've witnessed at least three dogs pick their person, too.
It's amazing. You can actually SEE them bond. And off they go.
It's really good.THAT IS RESCUE, my friends. We thank you for your support."
