- Keep sessions short. Five to ten focused minutes beat an hour of frustration, for both of you.

- Socialize early and often. Controlled exposure to new people, dogs, and environments builds a confident, well-adjusted adult dog.
- Hire help when needed. A certified positive-reinforcement trainer is worth every dollar for a dog with deeper behavioral needs.

In plain terms: a dog can enrich your life, but it works best alongside your own healthy habits, not as a replacement for them.
