Welcome back to the last day of the #DoItYourself #animedon #rewatch. Today we're on Episode 12, "'DIY' Means Friendship, Always and Forever!"
DIY ends on something of a bittersweet note, with Jobko leaving and the DIY club still not having enough members for an official status, but there's still a sense of hope, both for the DIY club as a whole and Serufu and Purin's relationship.
Overall, while I still like this series, I can't deny some of the vanish has peeled off since when I originally watched it over a year ago.

Welcome back to the #DoItYourself #animedon #rewatch. Today, we're on Episode 11, "'DIY' Means Do It Yourself!"
I don't really have anything to say today that won't be better served in my final thoughts tomorrow.

Welcome back to the #DoItYourself #animedon #rewatch. Today, we're on Episode 10, "'DIY' Means...Rock Bottom? Impossible? With Courage and Drive, Anything is Possible!"
Well, that sucks. The loss of all their materials sends the DIY club in a slump... for like half a day. While I do like the scene we get between Serufu and Purin out of this (particularly the reveal that Serufu was just disassociating the whole time), it kinda feels curt in the way it's quickly resolved.

Welcome back to the #DoItYourself #animedon #rewatch. Today we're on Episode 9, "Does 'DIY' Mean a Shocking Surprise? How Unexpected! It's Really Unexpected!"
Another episode that makes me wonder if the secret hideout was introduced too early, but the stuff about Purin and Serufu was nice. Anyway, time to check out the next episode... huh, the next episode is missing.

Welcome back to the #DoItYourself #animedon #rewatch. Today we're on Episode 8, "'DIY' Means... You Can't Do It? No, I Absolutely Can!"
I don't really have anything to say this episode other than the pacing of the second half of the series feels more languid on a day-to-day rewatch.

Sorry for the late post.
Welcome back to the #DoItYourself #animedon #rewatch. Today we're on Episode 7, "'DIY' Means You Can Do Things Inside If It's Hot and Muggy Out".
I recall this being an alright episode and it still is. The major issue is one that the whole series has: Rei feels underused as a character. She often feels more reactionary and as a mentor figure rather than her own character, particularly considering that she's a third year. It just would've been nice to see at some plot about what she wants from her future.

Welcome back to the #DoItYourself #animedon #rewatch. Today we're on Episode 6, "'DIY' Means Dull, Unexciting Items Come in Handy!"
It's time for a beach episode... in the middle of winter. The primary focus of this episode besides acquiring materials is coming back to Purin and Serufu's relationship and the way that it's changed since Serufu joined the club. Purin's still her tsundere self but it's clear she's becoming aware of the fact that her self-imposed distance from her (girl)friend is causing her to miss important parts of her growth.

One thing that I do feel odd about is the introductory scene that shows Shii's life back home (I'm presuming Thailand). I'm not sure if it's Orientalist per se, but it does feel like it Others her compared to the rest of the girls (Jobko also has some of this, but what we've seen of her past is more based on her emotional issues rather than specific culture depictions/stereotypes).
Also, they couldn't be bothered to give her a Thai name? I'd get it if she had a Japanese last name, but not even a first name or even a nickname based in Thai. Weird.

Welcome back to #DoItYourself #animedon #rewatch. Today, we're on Episode 4, "'DIY' Means You'll Find It Possible to Feel Comfortable Anywhere".
This episode pulls an interesting double duty as it continues Jobko's introduction while also being Purin's first focus episode. It's fun to see the two of them clash against one another while still recognizing that both of them have their own reasons as to who they are. I kinda forgot the tree house was introduced this early, but it's nice to see such a concreate goal this early on in the series.

Welcome back to the #DoItYourself #animedon #rewatch. Today, we're on Episode 3, "Does 'DIY' Mean Why Did You Suddenly Show Up?"
Looks like the DIY Club's got an infestation from a little shit. Jobko's introduction primarily focuses on the conflict that results from her being a 12-year-old girl dealing with a lot of emotions. We won't know the full deal with her mom until the end of the series (which I think is one of the weaker narrative aspects) but her being away from home and in what she feels is the wrong school is enough to make us have some sympathy towards her.

Welcome back to the #DoItYourself #animedon #rewatch. Today, we're on Episode 2, "Does 'DIY' Mean Doing Stuff With Somebody?"
This episode primarily focuses on introducing Takumi into the DIY group, starting off as someone uncertain about her place in the group and in the world at large but eventually coming to an understanding of what she wants to be. Watching Takumi's growth is one of the best parts of DIY and I'm glad to see it having a great start in the series.

I've been thinking about this since this show aired. she sleeps with a cat, a dog, and a pig. we see her bathing with the dog and pig. I don't think I could handle that much animal smell. I'm just going to assume this fancy future world has some really good allergy meds and deodorizers

Welcome to the start of the #DoItYourself #animedon #rewatch. We're beginning with Episode 1, "What is 'DIY'?"
I remembered DIY being a very good anime, but I forgot how good this first episode was in setting up the major aspects of the series while still being entertaining in its own right. We get an introduction to the tone of the series (lackadaisical yet emotional attuned), the major relationship of the series (Serufu and Purin), and the key theme of the series (the balance between progress towards new innovations and a respect towards the history and methods of those who came before us).

I'm ending my poll a bit early because the winner has been clear. The next #animedon #rewatch I'm hosting is #DoItYourself. It will begin in three days on the 21st. Our thoughts will go up at midnight utc.

It's been months since the DIY anime (Do it Yourself) anime aired. Yep, Ayaneru voiced one of the characters in the show (it's the red haired girl that she voiced). Didn't know there was an event going around.
