  1. With my #DoItYourself #rewatch ending on Sunday, I'm going to put up another rewatch poll. This'll be the last rewatch I host before the spring anime start up. Your choices this time are

    #AkebisSailorUniform
    #chainsawman
    #CyberpunkEdgerunners
    #BeastTamer
    #shikimorisan

The poll will be up for three days. You can vote for as many options as you'd like.

  2. Welcome back to the final day of the #bofuri #animedon #rewatch. Today, we're looking at Season 2, Episode 12, "Defense and the Big Final Battle."

The season and current anime ends, appropriately, on a huge big boss fight that involves all of our major characters finishing the event with a bang. I'll admit that I think I like this final arc of Season 2 more than Season 1's final arc; it's kinda more fun to see our characters fight together using new strategies rather than fight against each other. I will dock points here for the weird CG, though it's not as bad as Episode 3.

  3. Welcome back to the #bofuri #animedon #rewatch. Today, we're on Season 2, Episode 11, "Defense and New Parties".

This episode is primarily watching the main characters kick us and setting up for the finale. I'll admit I was dreading this arc coming into it but it's better on a rewatch, primarily due to the delays it had in its original airing and for the short time period playing better in a day-to-day rewatch.

  4. Welcome back to the #bofuri #animedon #rewatch. Today, we're on Season 2, Episodes 9 and 10, "Defense and Setting Up a Base" and "Defense and New Teams."

The eighth event turns out to be more fun that I remember it being (likely because of the delays we had around this time). While things like the splitting of guilds go by a bit too quickly, it's still cool to see different groupings than normal and the strategies that come from that. Plus, you get shit like Maple exploding herself as a signal - what more could you want from Bofuri?

  5. Apologies for the lack of post today; wi-fi was out for a long while. Tomorrow will cover Episodes 9 and 10.

  6. Welcome back to the #bofuri #animedon #rewatch. Today, we're on Season 2, Episode 8, "Defense and the Eighth Event."

The event itself gets off to a fun start as we see the rest of the major characters' Pokemon- I mean, tamed monsters. Highlight is obviously Mii and Payne's pretty cool fight immediately being undercut by Maple and her gator- you know, a normal Tuesday in NWO.

  7. Welcome back to the #bofuri #animedon #rewatch. Today, we're on Season 2, Episode 7, "Defense and Crystal Hunt."

A pretty basic plot as Maple and Sally find themselves in the middle of a quest that unlocks a new gameplay mechanic, but it's well done with a pair of fun boss battles that gives us a breather between the monster taming and the final arc of the season.

  8. Welcome back to the #bofuri #animedon #rewatch. Today, we're on Season 2, Episode 6, "Defense and Tame Monsters."

Another solid episode as the last three members of Maple Tree gain their companions. Kanade gains a ditto, Iz gets a biblically accurate angel with Maple and Mii's help, and Chrome becomes a Metal Hero... you know, normal stuff.

  9. Welcome back to the #bofuri #animedon #rewatch. Today, we're on Season 2, Episode 5, "Defense and Tentacles."

Now we're cookin' again. This episode really feels like the first season with exploring the seventh floor and looking for animal companions. Kasumi and the twins' segments are nice in demonstrating one of the most vital things about video games: the loop. Nothing should come easy at first; otherwise, you'd get bored. Even Maple had to git gud before becoming a god. Watching Kasumi, Mai, and Yui struggle so much before getting their comfy companions is nice to see.

  10. Welcome back to the #bofuri #animedon #rewatch. Today, we're on Season 2, Episode 4, "Defense and Tower Climbing."

Boss rush episode, not much to say here.

  11. Welcome back to the #bofuri #animedon #rewatch. Today, we're on Season 2, Episode 3, "Defense and the Seventh Event."

We start off with Maple causing more grief for the devs and having some fun with Mii that continues the nice relationship they develop throughout this season, then it's onto the seventh event. The fights in this episode are alright, if nothing special for Bofuri standards... but we gotta talk about the CG fight. I still don't know why they went that route. It can't be because of the difficulty of the sequence since they've done more complicated stuff.

  12. Welcome back to the #bofuri #animedon #rewatch. Today we're on Season 2, Episode 2, "Defense and Floors 5 and 6."

Once again, another mixed bag. I do like the design of Floors 5 and 6, along with the Kaede and Risa moment at the end, showing just how strong their friendship is. However, this episode's pace feels way too fast, basically jumping over Floor 5 to get to the next part. I always wonder what Season 2 would've been like if it was 13 episodes that gave us more time to breathe between moments.

  13. Welcome back to the #bofuri #animedon #rewatch. Today we're on Season 2, Episode 1, "Defense and Christmas." (A bit late for that one.)

This is a pretty decent start to Season 2 that does show some of the issues I have with this outing. I do like the aesthetic of Floor 4; sure, it's just feudal Japan, but they do it well and I love the constantly falling sakura petals. It's fun to see Federica get her ass kicked again, along with Maple and Payne's team up.

  14. Welcome back to the #bofuri #animedon #rewatch. Today we're on Season 1 Episode 12, "Defense and Bonds."

The first half deals with Maple quickly gaining their ground and eating the shit out of Holy Sword. This fight has always felt a step down from Flame Emperors and this rewatch gave me a theory as to why. When the Flame Emperors fight Maple, they all fully aware that they could honestly lose this fight, whereas Holy Sword is a lot more smug towards their fight. While it does have more emotional satisfaction to watch their shit wrecked, it's not as interesting as with the Flame Emperors.

  15. CW: odd taxi spoilers

    (knew i forgot something)

We end our #OddTaxi #animedon #rewatch with the recap movie Into the Woods. Despite being a recap movie, I actually thought it was well-done. What I thought was particularly noteworthy was not the specific format, but rather having it be set the day before the climax. It demonstrates a moment where a lot of questions have been answered but where it's still not exactly clear how things will play it. It also provides some fun with who's present or not, particularly since Imai is still being held.
