    “…like Congress, the Republican majority on the supreme court has lined up behind most of the president’s sweeping assertions of novel powers. [novel ~ kind of like Corona virus]

    - to fire ‘non-regime-friendly’ officials (in #violation of federal law);

  13. I own the book, "Where to Invade Next", inspired by an interview in which Gen. Wesley Clark revealed that in 2002, "he learned of a classified memorandum listing six other countries the United States intended to 'take out' over the next five years." McSweeney's published a po-faced reimagination of that memo. Recently I have been wanting a second edition, featuring Canada, Panama, and Greenland [Denmark] in place of, I guess, North Korea, Uzbekistan, and Syria. For starters.

    Unfortunately, the editor of the first edition turned out to be the canonical Shitty Media Man …. Maybe some other, less sketchy patriot will rise to the occasion?

  18. Many of the tools that #trump is using to #dismantle our democracy were already in place before he was elected. It is just that no one took assault on our democracy seriously.
    Guarding and nurturing a free society takes vigilance and hard work. We have grown lazy, allowing others to do our thinking.

  19. Every week we find ourselves further away from a more perfect union. Upholding and defending the constitution from all enemies foreign or domestic is far down the list of priorities and fading fast.

  20. #Trump preps order to #dismantle #Education Dept. as #DOGE probes data. Closing the agency would require congressional approval, so the new administration hopes to diminish it in the meantime. Do you all realize how completely unacceptable actions are now distilled into bland heads by MMM. Illegally terminating government agencies whose staff are critical to supporting the health, education and welfare of our counties citizens is, so what! These actions harm the fabric of our nation, democracy.
