  1. The very first #DinoConUK!

Matt and I are just back from the first DinoCon, a British dinosaur convention hosted at Exeter University by Darren Naish (the silent partner at SV-POW!) and colleagues. Among other things, it was a great chance for the three of us to get together, for the first time since the 2019 SVPCA on the Isle of Wight. It was a pretty amazing event: about 800 people, I believe, including a few professional palaeontologists, lots of amateur…

  2. This week at the library: No new books; instead, I took two huge piles of books to #DinoConUK and got them ALL signed (thanks @TetZoo and @markwitton for humouring me rocking up with a stack of your books). Overall, an excellent convention on which I will have more to say soon.

And yes, that is the just-published rerelease of Dougal Dixon's The New Dinosaurs from Breakdown Press! Keep your eyes peeled for a review in the near future.

  4. Well, day one of #DinoConUk done. Talks on fossil preparation, sauropod skin, the history of the Carnegie diplodocus, life as an animator, and the biomechanics of Tyrannosaurs.

So hard to pick a favourite, they were all genuinely excellent.

But if I had to pick, gun-to-head… highlight for me was “Skinning Diplodocus” by Tess Gallagher. Really engaging, funny presentation of fascinating cutting edge science. And a couple of winks at unpublished work to build the anticipation. 😄

  5. Checked in for #DinoConUk! And randomly found myself being checked in by an old friend who I had no idea was here this year, never mind volunteering!

    Great surprise. 😄

  6. Been a long (long) week at work. But I’m off to #DinoConUk, and starting the trip right. Should be a good weekend.

  7. Next August (weekend of 16th-17th 2025), the very first #DinoConUK kicks off in Exeter, UK. It's a descendant of #TetZooCon but way bigger, and this first one is very much dinosaur-focused. We're very excited about it and hope that you'll join us. Info and booking for accommodation is online at .... dinocon.co.uk/

  8. I'm here, but only occasionally. So... #TetZooCon is no more: 2024 was our last one. But hello #DinoConUK, starting August 2025. We're at Exeter University in August 2025 for two days involving stalls, merch, stands, displays, quizzes, talks and more relevant to #dinosaurs and related things. You can already register interest and book accommodation.... dinocon.co.uk/
