Direzione Investigativa Antimafia (DIA) ed Operazione URA: una collaborazione internazionale conduce all'arresto di un latitante in Albania
Nei giorni scorsi, nel quartiere di Shkozet a Durazzo (Albania), personale del Centro Operativo #DIA di Bari e dell’Ufficio Investigativo Nazionale (#BKH) della #S.P.A.K. di Tirana, nell’ambito della Squadra Investigativa Comune istituita tra la Direzione Distrettuale Antimafia di Bari e la Procura Speciale Anticorruzione e Criminalità Organizzata (SPAK), ha arrestato un latitante di nazionalità albanese, irreperibile dal 21 maggio 2025, nell'ambito dell'Operazione URA, condotta congiuntamente da Italia, Albania e Belgio.
Il 21 maggio 2025, la Direzione Investigativa Antimafia di Bari e le autorità albanesi, con il supporto di Interpol, dell'Ufficio dell'Esperto per la Sicurezza di Tirana e della Polizia albanese, avevano già eseguito, su disposizione della Direzione Distrettuale Antimafia di Bari e della Procura Speciale di Tirana, coordinate da Eurojust (L'Aia) e dalla Direzione Nazionale Antimafia ed Antiterrorismo di Roma, due ordinanze di custodia cautelare. Queste riguardavano complessivamente 52 persone, ritenute nell'ambito delle indagini preliminari in corso, responsabili di associazione finalizzata al traffico internazionale di stupefacenti, riciclaggio e altri reati (la responsabilità penale sarà definitivamente accertata solo a conclusione del processo, attualmente in corso davanti al G.U.P. del Tribunale di Bari).
Contestualmente, sono stati eseguiti decreti di sequestro patrimoniale in Albania e in Italia, relativi a beni mobili e immobili per un valore di diversi milioni di euro.
A seguito dell'irreperibilità di alcuni soggetti coinvolti nell'Operazione Ura, è stata avviata un'attività investigativa capillare tra Sud e Nord Italia e in Albania. A Durazzo è stato individuato il latitante, ritenuto – fatto salvo l'accertamento definitivo – il principale promotore di un sodalizio criminale attivo tra Puglia, Albania e Olanda. L'arresto è avvenuto nel suo stesso quartiere, considerata una roccaforte del gruppo criminale Troplini-Doci.
Al momento dell'arresto, mentre gli agenti notificavano la "red notice Interpol" emessa tramite il Servizio Centrale per la Cooperazione Internazionale di Polizia, il latitante è stato trovato in possesso di una pistola automatica con colpo in canna e due caricatori, denaro contante in valuta albanese e documenti falsi, tra cui una carta d'identità e una patente italiana. Questo ritrovamento testimonia la sua elevata capacità di movimento e i solidi legami con l'Italia.
Al termine delle operazioni, il presunto responsabile è stato trasferito nella Casa Circondariale di Durazzo in attesa delle procedure estradizionali, già avviate tramite i canali diplomatici. Il procedimento è attualmente pendente davanti al G.U.P. del Tribunale di Bari (la colpevolezza dell'indagato dovrà essere accertata al termine del giudizio, nel pieno rispetto del contraddittorio con la difesa).

"Pentagon raised threat of Israeli spying on U.S. to highest level, sources say
The counterintelligence threat level was raised by the Defense Intelligence Agency in recent weeks after growing concerns that Israeli espionage had become more aggressive than usual, sources say.

The Pentagon is increasingly concerned about Israel ramping up its spying on the U.S., recently raising the counterintelligence threat level from America’s top ally in the Middle East to the highest level, according to two U.S. officials and one former U.S. official.
The Pentagon’s Defense Intelligence Agency in recent weeks issued the new counterintelligence threat assessment amid rising tensions between Israel and the U.S. over the way forward in the war with Iran, the officials said. They said the DIA posted an internal message, viewed by one of the current officials, that raised the level for Israel to 'critical.'
The designation stems from concerns within the Pentagon that Israel is making a particular effort to surveil top U.S. officials to get information on the Trump administration’s internal deliberations and decision-making on the conflicts in the Middle East, the officials said.
The DIA assessment includes a seven-page document and features a chart, according to one of the current U.S. officials. The document says the assessment of Israel is that its ability to conduct human espionage and technical collection is at a 'critical level,' according to the official.
It also identifies a series of specific incidents that heightened U.S. concerns, the official said.
A spokesperson for the Israeli embassy in Washington, D.C., said in a statement that it is 'completely false' that Israel spies on the U.S. 'Israel does not gather intelligence on American entities, let alone US government officials,' the spokesperson said. 'Israel intelligence collection efforts are aimed at its enemies, not its allies. Any claims to the contrary are either misinformed or politically motivated.'
The Pentagon declined to comment.
A White House official said in a statement, 'This entire story is false and sourced to someone who doesn’t have any knowledge of what’s going on.'"

De un viejo programa de radio digital a una novela de 71.000 palabras
Hace años, en Zafarrancho Pódcast, conté la historia de un pequeño gato embarcado en un buque de guerra británico atrapado en la guerra civil china.
Algunos quizá la recordéis. Era la aventura de Simón, el gato del HMS Amethyst.
Aquel episodio incluía un cuento narrado de unas 17.000 palabras. Una historia breve, escrita casi como una leyenda marinera para ser escuchada de noche, con el mar y las turbinas sonando de fondo.
Pero con el tiempo me di cuenta de que aquella historia merecía algo más, mucho más, porque junto al gato había un barco aislado en un río hostil con una dotación atrapada lejos de casa.
También había bombardeos, miedo, cansancio, incendios, guardias nocturnas, camaradería y supervivencia. Era el marco de uno de los episodios más extraños y olvidados de la historia naval del siglo XX: el Incidente del Yangtsé de 1949.
Así nació El marinero de siete vidas.
La obra no es una simple ampliación del viejo cuento, es una novela completamente desarrollada de más de 71.000 palabras, reescrita desde cero, con nuevos personajes, nuevas escenas, una ambientación mucho más rica y una reconstrucción mucho más cuidada de la vida a bordo del HMS Amethyst y de las batallas, que fueron muchas y dinámicas.
Durante estos años he trabajado para convertir aquella vieja narración radiofónica en una auténtica e inmersiva novela naval en la que el lector pudiera sentir los pasillos claustrofóbicos del barco; el calor de máquinas; la tensión de los bombardeos y el agobiante cautiverio en el Yangtsé.
También quería que el lector participara de esos momentos humanos que surgen incluso en medio del peligro.
Y, por supuesto, quería que Simón abandonara su rol de gato famoso y se conviertiera en un personaje pleno, sin caer en el cliché de la antropomorfización.
