Which really makes you think. Between this and the original FVEY agreement, the whole of the UKUSA surveillance of the world happened under Queen Elizabeth.
You'd think that she's done nothing at all, as monarch, but here's an example of something that is *very* different under her than before her - the complete eradication of privacy, and increasingly thorough control in the UK and the almost complete eradication of privacy elsewhere in the world under the british crown.
People think that Prince Charles will bring no changes at all, and that we can expect more of the same whatver...but there really was a big change in how civilization worked at a base level. Elizabeth wasn't the only one to roll out a mass surveillance system: Stalin and CeauΘescu did too. Mao did similar things. But her regime really did change the world, and exhibited control over a substantial portion of it using it.
What's the next monarch, Charles, going to do differently? What kinds of things will he shake up, that he's been waiting decades for?
