I'm so glad I have postponed to learn #Rust until now! Now I can go learn #Crablang!

But seriously. What is the Rust community's opinion on this topic and Crablang?

Creo que una vez comenté sobre el hecho de que, tras ser abandonado por mozilla como proyecto propio, el desembarco de Microsoft, Google, facebook, Ibm, etc... Al board que controlaba la fundación tras Rust, este iba a terminar jodido (o severamente perjudicado con la ya tradicional burocracia de turno)

#CrabLang (a fork of #Rust), reminds me of Io.js, which forked from #Node.js because corporate sponsors were holding the language back. Due to extreme bureaucratic caution, adding new JavaScript features to Node.js took a very long time (years!).

The good thing is that this led to the formation of the Node.js Foundation and, eventually, the #OpenJS Foundation. The result is a platform with better governance and faster iteration. #Io.js and #Node.js were merged in the end.

Sooo… are we all switching to #crablang now?

So I'm just learning now that #Rust has been forked onto #Crablang.... This is a reminder that institutions with less drama do better at maintaining unity. Oh well ❤️‍🩹😌.

It's a bizarre stance to call forking #rustlang into #crablang a waste of effort. It's insisting that we MUST continue to engage with harmful systems for the sake of "the show must go on," but that's kinda how you create devs who hate life and hate the projects they're working on.

If you're afraid of the future of Rust in the Linux kernel, the onus is on the system itself to change, not the protesters.
