To get the sibilance into a reasonable range and to not lose the base in the #cassette fuzz (DC bias recorder). I am currently using a 2-pass "Full Base" EQ and the compressor in #VLC to pre-process the file. Heavier bass and lighter tenor seems to result in "less snake hissing" vocals when playing the tape back.
