I have always felt that nine justices is really too few for the Supreme Court and that we ought to expand it to at least thirteen (or more). I don’t see much downside to a larger court.
And with strategic retirements now making #scotus more partisan, we probably need to do something about term limits.
The hard part is reforming the confirmation process. How do you assure that each president gets to select a set number of judges, but no more or less?

I would not consider #Gorsuch nor the other #Conservative *Justices* my peers. They do not represent any of my #political, #moral, #cultural, or #intellectual #values at all. #Biden’s proposal is a declaration that #SCOTUS is wrong about the #Constitution, that it has abused its power & influence & that it needs to be checked & balanced. In just the last term, the Roberts court has rewritten the #14thAmendment to keep Donald #Trump on the presidential ballot as well as radically expanded presidential #power in direct contravention of the history, text & structure of the #Constitution.

This case isn't even about using political power to stop fascism, it's a clear cut situation of providing debt relief for folks being ground up by the student loan industry. If fascist judges are prepared to interfere with regular policy issues and block milquetoast presidential initiatives, you can sure as shit bet they're going to do the same thing about any political efforts to stop the fascist takeover of our society. Whether you're for taking to the streets, or you believe in stopping fascism at the ballot box, it's 100% clear to me that we're not going anywhere good as a country so long as these corrupt, be-robed nazis are running Bartertown.
There's more than one way to reform the American federal court system, and I don't have all the answers for you. It's entirely possible the Biden administration can keep working around these rulings for a little while to continue offering student loan debt relief to millions of Americans victimized by the student loan industry. What I do know however is that sooner or later the political issues raised by the fascist takeover of our courts will come to a head, and by hook, or by crook, we need to find a way to shatter the power of corrupt judges who're now running the country for their reactionary corporate donors; rich donors and corpos who clearly support the larger fascist project, might I add. Ignoring this reality is a nonstarter - both politically, and in our greater society.

My #CourtReform hot take is that the Supreme Court should be expanded to 13 justices, with one chief justice, and each of the rest of the justices drawn from a different circuit (1 thru 11 + DC) so they better represent the country. Justices explicitly bound by Judicial Code of Conduct, with panel of Circuit Judges to hear violations.

So let's step back from the trees and look at the forest.
SCOTUS is controlled by Trump partisans. Increasingly, we can see they are coming to move in-concert.
Our federal judicial system has utterly failed to bring Trump to justice in the four years between Presidential elections. The SCOTUS decision today assures this effort is virtually dead.
If Trump is elected in Nov. our democracy will be lost. Fascists would then control two, or maybe all three, branches of government.
The only recourse left to patriots is the election. But even if Trump is defeated, we still must deal with a corrupt SCOTUS and institute serious reforms.
Who will lead the charge to fix our govt.? This will require energy, vision, anger, and eloquence.
