I also see that u mentioned NixOS in ur profile. So wondering, whether cosmic can be managed declaratively like hyprland etc in NixOS/home manager using a module? 🤔
Or for now it's just manually customized?

Practically finished setting up Universix-Saigon, my Cosmic bootc image based on a solid Bluefin base. It's live on github at thesaigoneer - universix-saigon.
Many edits in applications, flatpaks and QoL, read up on it in the readme.md. Or just give it a go! -
Universe is another word for Cosmos, hence Universix as the name for the bootc Cosmic image I've cooked today. And it worked out very well. More on that tomorrow. Back home an updated MangoWC on Slackware waited for me! Great diversions from a shiite day at the races.

I recently switched to COSMIC from KDE Plasma as I wanted to potentially upgrade my security at the cost of usability. I've been using KDE Plasma for a while, as I found it to be a powerful and pretty sleek desktop environment GNOME is also very nice and comfortable for me, but I was using hardened_malloc at the time so using it would break my system most likely. Window managers are nice too, but they require more time and effort than I am willing to put in, so I stuck to using KDE or GNOME.
I started using COSMIC on my latest Fedora install after my setup broke, as it seemed pretty interesting, and it was written in Rust. I am aware that COSMIC is currently lacking thumbnail sandboxing, although a solution is in progress (https://github.com/pop-os/cosmic-files/issues/1216) but as far as the entire DE goes, I believe there shouldn't as many potential memory leaks as C/C++-written software.
I am happy with the amount of power I have over my DE as a whole including theming, and I am even more happy over how easy it is to track with things like chezmoi. The keybindings are also really nice, and whatever I miss can be added back and tracked easily. The apps are pretty usable, although I've had to make an issue with the media player and am soon about to make another one. Overall, a pretty good experience all things considered.
Hopefully, my issues will be sorted out in future releases, and I am grateful that a stable release even exists now. My blessings goes out to all the developers who have worked on COSMIC. Here's to another great release!

I have an old Macbook Air 7,2 for work. Apple has made this obsolete and no longer offers the latest OS for it. So, with the blessing of my IT admin, I experimented with PopOS Cosmic beta, and now run the full release. I'm enjoying it so far. Sure, there are features that I would like added, (such as airdrop support) but this has been a rock solid replacement for MacOS.

Finally ein Review zum Cosmic Desktop, das ich interessant finde. Will den Desktop ja unbedingt mal ausprobieren.

Hey y'all...
New week new Video ! In this one I introduce the FOSS world to a new addition to the #XeroLinux family..

My modified #PopOS is having a risky window system flaw where when a new window opens, sometimes the one underneath it retains focus... I've almost copy-pasted some stuff into a chat when it was supposed to go somewhere else.
My setup is really glitchy. I want to switch to something that works better, but I have so much config that might get lost... I think I'll hold out until #COSMICDE . At least until it works on #Nvidia + #Wayland ! -
Am I the only one completely unable to run the cosmic desktop alpha. It simply does not boot. #cosmic #cosmic_de
