Last week Clickspring posted a video showing how to use ruby (synthetic #corundum) bearings in precision instruments.
Corundum bearings are hard (mohs hardness 9) and shaped and polished to be low-friction.

Look,I love #Kyanite, I do. I sang its praises as a thin section superstar, and deep earth origin, but it's gotta be #calcite in this matchup. With #quartz and #corundum out, calcite is the only heavyweight left!

#MinCup2023 Corundum vs stibnite. Both minerals spark joy, but it's got to be #corundum for me - pretty much a local Mull speciality.
