CW: Annoying things in Win11 - solution to Copilot in OS Search!!
Y'all I found a solution that removed the forced invocation of #Copislop in the Windows search bar!
It's a registry edit, point 3 in the answer here
I'll also paste the instructions here for future reference
Press Win + R > type regedit > press Enter
Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer
Right-click Explorer > create a new DWORD (32-bit) Value
Name it: DisableSearchBoxSuggestions
Set its value to: 1
Close Registry Editor and restart the PC.The thing is, the Explorer "key" may not exist, but if you add it and do everything else as per instructions, it will work!!
This seems to remove both the online search (it then goes on to search only locally, as it should) and the Copilot crap. Yeay! -
