  1. Here's a #WeCo (coop replacement for Reddit) poll on what is the best idea for a new #coop posted in Mastodon.

    weco.io/b/root/p/leosammallaht

    Includes ideas from @cliffregis, @cjd , me and @mmeyer .

If you got ideas, post them, use #coopidea or tag me. I will use them in what I plan to be a monthly poll at weco.io/b/coopidea.

If you wanna get involved with WeCo, register as an user or/and join our discord at discord.gg/Xuxet48.

If you're a developer, tag @KingMob in the discord!

DuckDuckGo is a privacy respecting alternative to Google search that doesn't track users, but only shows ads based on the words searched. The #platformcoop movement should set up an DuckDuckGo ad purchasing cooperative for #platformcoops.

Someone choosing to use DuckDuckGo instead of Google might also be the right type of person advertise #Resonate to when they use it search for Spotify or #WeCo to when they search for Reddit.

I can donate 10$ for ads to every coop who joins.

  3. A blog platform #CoopIdea:
    - You pay a 1 $/month .
    - You spend 1% of time in the blog platform reading article A.
    - Article A's author is given 1 cent.

It would be the opposite of clickbait and incentivize long read articles.

The platform should detect the pace by which users scroll down to know if they are actually reading the article. That sort of data could then be used by the authors to find how to improve their articles.

Maybe combined with Medium type x number of free articles/week.

I have an educational platform #CoopIdea:

    1. Allow anyone submit educational intervention ideas that can be evaluated with trials with randomized allocation of students to intervention and control group.

    2. Pay teachers who are willing to try out those interventions or act as a control group in such experiments.

    3. Have people guess the results, give awards to experiments with results opposite to what people guessed.

I've started a bit of it already:

People in discussion boards have made subtitles for their favorite shows for a long time. It's perfect sort of task to split into smaller parts and delegate to many people.

What if people could get others to do subtitles to content they want by making subtitles to content someone else wants?

    - I want subtitles for a Spanish film, you want subtitles for a Finnish film.
    - You speak Spanish, I speak Finnish.
    - Coop connects us.

I would be happy to do subtitles for Finnish content.

Read on the rampant mislabeling of fish. Idea:

    1. Buy samples of fish from stores and restaurants near-by.
    2. Test them to see if the fish is mislabeled as wrong type of fish or being less fresh than promised.
    3. Rate the sellers.
    4. Make a website where visitors can see sellers near-by.

    - Ads and coupons to make profit.
    - Money goes to a coop to buy samples & test them.

How hard/expensive testing a sample of fish to see if its mislabeled is?

    Maybe @cathal or @dazinism knows?
