💬 ¿Qué leemos?
En esta próxima sesión leeremos «El sistema capitalista» de Bakunin, un texto corto escrito durante una época durante la cual el anarquismo y el marxismo no eran los grandes rivales que son hoy en día. Desde un punto de vista claramente influido por Marx —mientras siendo firme en su antiestatismo—, Bakunin critica el capitalismo, enfocándose concretamente en la relación desigual entre los empleadores y los obreros creada por el trabajo asalariado, comparando éste a la servidumbre y la esclavitud.

Pretty sure Woody’s recordings are mostly over on Smithsonian/Folkways,(for now)Some at the Library of Congress issued by Electra/Rounder in the 90s and are streaming but the extensive notes are missing 😤
#Folkways keeps the old Arhoolie Records albums available — including tons of #zydeco #conjunto & #cajun #accordion because unlike the rest of the US folk revival, Austrian-born Chris Strachwitz was not afraid of the squeezebox

The Arhoolie Foundation got an email saying a $200,000 matching grant was cut because their work saving old recordings “no longer serves the interest of the United States”
I know they want to end Medicaid and Social Security to give tax transfers to #billionaires
But it’s ironic that politicians creating the latest economic crash stop funding to preserve records made during the Great Depression
