Sånn apropos strømforbruk og #datasenter kan jeg fortelle at som #colocation så bruker vi i gjennomsnitt 25% av den strømmen som vi har fått allokert.
Mye av grunnen til det er at våre kunder kjøper en viss mengde #strøm (som vi må holde av til dem) som de ikke bruker ikke opp. Vi kan ikke selge strømmen «igjen» til noen andre, vi vet jo ikke hva kundenes planer er - og det er krise om vi overselger og kunder i vekst ikke får det de har krav på.
Mange kunder = mye ubrukt strøm.

Bouteille à la mer un peu : je cherche des personnes queer/neuroa avec qui faire une coloc sur #ClermontFerrand

Ma situation : j'ai 29 ans, j'viens de pauser mes études d'italien en L3 pck burn-out et je compte normalement reprendre l'année prochaine direct au 2nd semestre.
J'habite actuellement une passoire thermique et phonique qui me coûte au final cher (le loyer lui-même est pas cher...) et dans laquelle je me caille et j'entends tout ce qui disent mes voisins. Ça fait 3 ans que j'y suis, j'en peux plus.
J'ai pas les sous pour trouver un appart assez grand (mini 40m² avec une chambre séparée) parce que j'ai déjà mes meubles et que les apparts de cette taille sont tous déjà chers.
Les colocs toutes prêtes sont meublées et je sais pas si je suis capable d'emménager comme ça avec des gens que je connais pas du tout.
Je trouve des apparts (DPE A à D uniquement) avec 2 ou 3 chambres aux alentours de 700-800€, ce qui divisé par 2 est déjà beaucoup plus raisonnable.
Je suis queer, autiste, artiste, j'aime beaucoup écouter de la musique sur mes enceintes (pop/rock/punk) (je blast pas non plus à en faire trembler les murs hein) (juste je supporte pas le casque toute la journée), aller au Fotomat voir des concerts et drag shows, j'ai pleiiiins de livres, j'essaie de custo mes vêtements...
Mon plus gros souci c'est que je suis pas végé parce que très gros probable TCA lié à mon autisme et des traumas et j'ai énormément de mal à changer mon alimentation. J'aimerais devenir végé cependant.
Pas fumeuse et ne veux pas habiter avec quelqu'un·e qui fume.

Du coup, je voudrais savoir si y'a d'autres personnes qui sont un peu dans le même cas que moi et qui aimeraient qu'on se rencontre pour voir si on peut se trouver un appart ensemble !

Чтобы отвезти сервер пришлось проехать 3 кордона охраны, на которых проверяли машину на био-, радиозаражение, наличие взрывчатых веществ и зеркалом смотрели днище (не согласились показать, я хотел увидеть много ли там ржавчины)

На одном кордоне, никого не оказалось, поэтому я пошёл гулять с пропуском внутрь здания, где выбежал охранник и планировал положить харей в пол со словами - ТЫ КАК СЮДА ПРОШЁЛ

Притом, обратный путь был такой же - разве, что не проверяли на заражение (проверили багажник, а не увожу ли цистерну гептила)

Немного истории

В конце 90ых, когда в стране можно было купить, что угодно, ребята из mtw.ru подсуетились и смогли купить/арендовать бункер, в котором и создали ЦОД. Электричества завались - рядом стоят такие предприятия как ЦНИИМаш, РКК Энергия и т.д., а так же проходит ЛЭП и своя электростанция. Есть ощущение, что невысокий ценник у провайдера обусловлен тем, что предприятия стали потреблять намного меньше электричества, но его надо куда-то девать, поэтому по дешёвке продают компаниям

Но в целом, это территория предприятия АО Композит, где в лучшие годы производители материалы для космической промышленности

А как уроженец Королёва, могу сказать, что очень обидно за всю космическую промышленность, вернее за её последние вздохи

По поводу провайдера - mtw.ru красавчики, всего за 5к в месяц размещают 1U сервер, дают постоянный KVM, 1 Gbit/s и не требуют рельсы для сервера

Starting to refine the short list for moving hosting [ https://moose.ca ], [ https://fxide.io ], and [ https://fxworks.io ] and others. I'm at the point where architectural considerations need to take centre stage.

OVH is not a Canadian company but keeping them in the running for now.

My use case is moving ionos.com and linode.com services to other providers in Canada.

Also, I need to decide if I can be bothered running email again. There are Toronto based email services available at reasonable prices. Needs more pondering.

Preferably centred around or near #Ottawa for coloco. VPS less concerned on location other than #Toronto/ #Ottawa/ #Montreal backbone areas.

Any options? Web searching seems to pull up enterprise grade ($$$) or mickey mouse stuff or US companies with Toronto PoPs.

For frame of reference I currently have stuff on Linode/Akamai and Ionos.

For the cost of upgrading the CPUs, quadrupling the RAM, getting that LSI card + cables, and swapping the 2x10G NIC for a 2x40G NIC at $420, I could get an X10 box on #eBay with almost the same specs, and if I double that to $1000 I could aim for an X11-based box. Decisions, decisions, although the most important one for now is to put off such unnecessary purchases until I land my next job.

At the moment I am stuck with kernel 6.5 until I either blast off this #Supermicro X9 server entirely, or get an LSI 9311-8i + SAS cables.

For the cost of upgrading the CPUs, quadrupling the RAM, getting that LSI card + cables, and swapping the 2x10G NIC for a 2x40G NIC at $420, I could get an X10 box on #eBay with almost the same specs, and if I double that to $1000 I could aim for an X11-based box. Decisions, decisions, although the most important one for now is to put off such unnecessary purchases until I land my next job.
