Different kinds of #disinformation spread in different ways. But in terms of #misleading claims about #climate — that's perpetuated predominantly by #RightWing #media. And that involves an #InformationEcosphere defined by #JoeRogan, as heard above, but also #AlexJones, #Breitbart, the #DailyWire, the #DailyMail, the #NewYorkPost, & above all #FoxNews.

That local #UK govts are deciding how often citizens can go shopping is #disinformation.
The false narrative surrounding #15minuteCities is but one part of a larger sprawling #ConspiracyTheory called the #GreatReset. The theory goes that a shadowy global elite (often #Jewish) wants to strip away ordinary people's #freedoms & make us live a life of deprivation. Under this theory, 15-minute cities are a ploy to take away people's freedom to move around.

For instance, today NPR has a story about an #UrbanPlanning trend called #15minuteCities —designing cities so that you #access amenities in a short walk, bike ride or trip on public transport. Now there's a #ConspiracyTheory saying that this is a way to restrict people's movement or to trap people in an open-air prison.

People working on #Climate Solutions are encountering #disinformation & #ConspiracyTheories about their work.
#ClimateDisinformation in the past —sometimes paid for by #FossilFuel interests— were often misconceptions like #GlobalWarming is a scam or its threat overblown. Those endure, but now there are attacks on #ClimateSolutions… such as attacks on #renewables; e.g. the myth that #WindTurbines cause cancer or birth defects.
