    I don’t get why every thinking person isn’t in a white-hot panic about #ClimateCrisis.

Just this last year we’ve seen UNPRECEDENTED flooding in China & Europe; hellacious fires across Canada & in the American West; drought in the US, Africa, the Mid-East; catastrophic loss of ice in Greenland & Antarctica; rising seas threatening entire countries in the Pacific; climate-related famine & climate-driven migration.

Is everyone asleep? Or is it a case of “it’s all up to them” — an ephemeral ‘them’ with unlimited funding & motivation to prioritize #ClimateCrisisMitigation?

Even many Americans who have prioritized climate solutions & demand MORE from leaders don’t seem to relate changes to their own behavior, or 55 million of them wouldn’t have traveled over Thanksgiving.

Billionaires & mega-corporation executives who play the PR game but still promote fossil fuel use for profits may last longer than the rest of us, but they’re still victim to ZERO pollinators.

    WE ARE SO STUPID!

If we were a sane civilization, we would prioritize #ClimateCrisisMitigation over EVERYTHING ELSE, excepting only food for those living in a near-starvation crisis.

    Instead, we collectively are funding:
    Multiple wars
    Space exploration
    AI development
    Military weapons development & expansion
Fossil fuel industry subsidies, new exploration & development
Continued rampant consumerism via engorged capitalism
Promotion of known planet-killers (deforestation, meat consumption, etc)

If our descendants survive 150 years, we all will be regarded as embodiments of stupid, apathetic, dysfunctional & selfish lumps who kicked science & the future aside for convenience & comfort.

We’ve had solid data for over 50 years. We’re experiencing a Sixth Mass Extinction event. We know the solutions yet we fail to insist on action & appropriate funding of necessary action.

We are all guilty in this madness.

  11. Thank-you for the kind boost, Dr Jibreell.
I spent much of the 1950s/60s in Pakistan, where my father was a diplomat (Morrice James, Lahore & Karachi twice) & I have many happy memories.
I am seriously worried about this disconnect between the two halves of the world, the 'growthers' and degrowthers.
Not convinced that the COP meetings, UN etc are managing to come up with a global plan. Without this, #ClimateCrisisMitigation will fail. With it, CCM might just succeed.

    "How We Start Fixing Things"...
    HOORAY!
I was beginning to worry you thought #ClimateCrisisMitigation was by now simply impossible.
I remember the 1950s, when we got rid of London smogs, but also the early 2000s when air in my beloved Delhi became unbreatheable.
Life will gradually become more difficult on our planet, but if we take action NOW, I am still hopeful that a revolution in the way we live might just stave off extinction.

I suppose my point is that I am personally unsure of the accuracy of the predictions.

I am therefore doing my best to persuade the human race (relying on #ChainReactions!) to do what they can at an individual level, whether it be glueing their gluteus maximus (glutei maximi?) to motorways to show the government they are cross, or reducing their personal use of #fossilfuels
