    CivFanatics user SpyFanatic recently announced what is likely to be the final release and iteration of the Master of Mana mod that turns #Civ4 into a 4X fantasy strategy Master of Magic like experience. The journey began many years ago when modding legend & game dev Kael developed the Fall From Heaven Civ4 mods which spawned many other ‘modmods’ using the FFH2 template. One of them was known as Wildmana that pushed things in a more magical direction became the popular Master of Mana mod. It’s also worth noting that one of the original Wildmana & MoM dev’s Sephi is working on a new MoM inspired game called The Red Desert of Cruoris at the moment too.     5 years ago for Civ1s 30th anniversary we posted Blake's video here about how to play it in HD with the best mods & scenarios and now as we close in on Sid Meier's Civilization II 30th anniversary the time has come to do the same for Civ2. In the intervening years Blake has painstakingly searched, rescued & preserved several thousand Civ2 scenarios made over the last 3 decades and is now showcasing many of the best total conversion ones in this video. There’s also previews on some crazy new mods of Blake's that change nearly everything in Civ2 to look like Heroes of Might & Magic, Command & Conquer, Red Alert, Dune, and Alpha Centauri to name a few. Eventually he’ll be doing episodes on playing Colonization, Master of Magic, Alpha C, CtP and Civ3-4-etc in HD too but that’ll be a few more years work. Curious?     Since a few days the new "Game Of The Month" for #Civ4 is again available. This time you have to play as Louis XIV of France on a tropical standard size Custom Continents map on Prince level. There are a bunch of custom modifications, like resource replacements which lead to some resources missing, and you're permanently allied to the HRE, but it's a minor civ and you can't talk to it.     The Baltimore Banner has just before Christmas ran a title called "How Baltimore County became a hidden world of video game companies".
    As many of you know, Baltimore is the home to our most important gaming studio, Firaxis, but not only that. Its predecessor, Microprose, was also situated in Baltimore, and more recently also many things have happened there. Firaxis personnel has spawnd other studios like "Big Huge Games", which were responsible for "Rise of Nations", and very recently Oxide Games, which has developed "Ara: History Untold". And we don't know yet what games will come from 2 other studious founded by Firaxis employees, Bit Reactor and Midsummer Studios.

    @matematico314 I think this has probably to do with the success of previous titles on the other platforms. #Civ4 until #Civ6 were ported to Mac (by Aspyr, this time apparently not involved), and Civ6 apparently also plays well on the Steamdeck. I guess in all cases they sold well enough to warrant this effort to not rely on Proton or Wine.

    Brad Wardell, CEO of Stardock, made a post on Reddit, which just recently surfaced again. The overlooked information in Brad's post was that Kael apparently has moved on now to #Amplitude. Given that Amplitude has with #Humankind a civ competitor, and is for sure also working on new projects... time to speculate!

    Five #videogames to introduce yourself? This will be fun!

    1. #Deathloop (probably my all-time favorite)
    2. #EscapeAcademy (I'm a huge fan of #EscapeRooms)
    3. #Civ3 / #Civ4 / #Civ5 (I have probably poured more hours into the #Civilization series than any other aside from...)
    4. #NHL22 and the previous #EASports #hockey games (so many seasons in franchise mode!)
    5. #Wolfenstein3D specifically for the #AtariJaguar. This was the smoothest and best-looking version of this game.
