  1. A few days ago, on a walk in South India, a close friend & awesome naturalist, casually pointed out 2 species of carnivorous plants, Sundews

Drosera indica (Indian Sundew) , & D burmanii (Tropical sundew)

For me, this was a big natural history moment, my first ever look at wild carnivorous plants.

    Just so awesome & beautiful

  2. I have a dilemma. I'm about to start focusing on a portfolio to approach dispensaries for freelance projects. OR should I dust off an old project near and dear to my heart, a coloring book that educates about wetland ecology titled "How A Venus Flytrap Digests Its Prey", for which I have written about 1,500 words. I'm thinking crowdsourcing and charity. Details on both approaches in thread.

  4. #Sundews' secret to survival: Study reveals how #CarnivorousPlants adapt to #microhabitat challenges phys.org/news/2025-01-sundews- paper: besjournals.onlinelibrary.wile

"they alter the density of their leaf tentacles and the uptake of nitrogen from prey to thrive in different #microhabitats, such as mounds and hollows, within #peatland #ecosystems... #plants invest more in carnivorous traits, when nutrients from the #soil are limited and light availability is high"
