The first seedlings from the 2026 Venus Flytrap harvest are ready to plant. I water germinated them this time and it seems to have worked. I think I will put them in the bog. The last stalk with seed pods is still attached and should be ready to pull in a few days.

Found this pitcher plant at the nursery the other day. It’s in a six inch pot. It’s freaking enormous. Tag says sarracenia purpurea but that seems unlikely given that it’s green with veins (like the hulk). It could eat frogs. THE LIP. What did they feed this thing…

Cape Sundew (Drosera capensis) in flower. Native to the Cape region of South Africa, this sundew is one of the easiest carnivorous plants to grow, and is almost impossible to kill (I've tried). It is so prolific that it is considered a weed in commercial carnivorous plant nurseries.

Many #butterwort species from Mexico have two growth phases. When the weather is dry, they form a tight rosette of succulent leaves. When seasonal moisture arrives, they transition into their carnivorous phase, sporting larger mucilage-covered leaves that catch small insects.

#Pinguicula gigantea catches the few fungus gnats that end up in the grow space, using its large, dewy leaves. From my experience, this species is easy to propagate from leaf pullings. I like giving these away to friends and family.
