I should have a drum roll for last bottle moments. 🥁 A few years after Blankiet's founding, this 2001 vintage, with winemaker Helen Turley, helped make a new Napa cult. All Cab Sauv, it has held beautifully, years left.
Solid in the mid-palate, it shows the benefits of age. If not young and fruity, it has the subtler concentration of more nuanced fruit.
Velvety, tasty, classy and in a perfect moment, a Last Bottle Victory. 🤗 $175 then.

There are options - decent #Malbec or #Cabernet for $11-15. As good as JLohr and other Central Coast & #Mendocino wines that go for $20-25.

A sexy vintage for Seavey, this 2001 is fruit forward now, concentrated and a little unctuous, relatively, not quite as powerful as some, but maybe richer. Still, it's Seavey and that means it opens, evolves, gets tighter and shows a backbone to support beautiful fruit. Don't forget velvety texture. Yeah, baby.
This won't be my last note on this lovely '01.

I wasn't so sure about this around 10+ years back compared to other years, but it has come around brilliantly. I have and had a lot of vintages of Seavey, and I've often been less impressed with the 02 than some (that's relative!), but this bottle sure shows great. Deep, concentrated and powerful, it has plenty of pop on the finish, classic cassis nuances and relative youth. Intense and concentrated. About $60 then. Impressive. #wine #napa #cabernet
