Reflection of the Past

Years ago I had joined a photography club in town. One of our field trips was a trip out to the local airport to visit the hangers of WWII flying ace Duncan Miller.
In this image I have his Model A with a reflection of his C47 in the window. It seemed only proper that I convert the old war plane to a black and white.

I captured this on a visit to the hangers of WWII flying ace Duncan Miller. Duncan, the self proclaimed mayor of the Nut Tree Airport has several hangers out there.

C-47 with parachutist exiting! This C-47 was doing what it was intended to do - only over Barnes Regional Airport, Massachusetts, not Normandy on the 6th of June, 1944. Wearing the invasion stripes promulgated by the Allies at the very last moment (and with the paint often crudely applied by yard brooms), the C-47s, along with Short Stirlings and other aircraft, would make history that night. C-47A This example of the classic transport aircraft designed by Douglas was one of the workhorses of WW2. C-47A, 92nd Troop Carrier Squadron, 493rd Troop Carrier Wing, 9th Air Force took off from #Upottery Airfield, #Devon on D-Day to the #Cotentin Peninsula, #Normandy. They carried Easy Company (to gain fame as the ‘Band of Brothers’), Lt. Dick Winters & other #paratroopers of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division on their very first combat jump.
