Pumpkin, cheese, and sunflower seed scones (I gather the wacky USAians may call this "biscuit".)

Kinda just winging this one, have two big tubs of roast #allotment butternut pumpkin in the fridge needing using. This used up one.

Preheated oven to 240°C

Mixed 736g skinless roast pumpkin, 6 tbsp sunflower seeds, 3 tbsp golden caster, 3 tsp chipotle powder, and 1 tsp salt into a paste.

Melted 150g butter and folded this into the mix, then folded in 500ml milk. (Could have been less milk, on reflection, half as much.)

Folded in 150g grated cheddar, 60g grated parmesan, and 1.5 tsp baking powder.

Then started blending in self raising flour about 300g at a time first with a wooden spoon, then by hand, until I had a very soft but workable dough. In the end maybe 1.3kg flour used.

Because lazy... just bashed this into two discs which I have cut into wedges, brushed with milk, and sprinkled with sunflower seeds.

BeetBear did his final tally on the butternut squash harvest for this year and came up with these numbers. In total we harvested 144 squashes. Of those we gave away 99 and kept the best 45 for ourselves. Not too bad, considering the year we had. Last year's total was 225 total and don't remember how many we kept, but they lasted us until March. 😀

Wish I'd taken a picture..opened up the #wormery tonight to feed my wiggly chums and discovered about 50 healthy sprouting #butternut squash seedlings..a bit leggy and obviously pale but potted a few up. Amusingly the squash and courgette seeds I bought hadn't germinated so popped two of these in with the peas and sweetcorn and hope the #ThreeSisters thing does it's magic. #permaculture #gardening #Allotment #FreePlants

There was one butternut squash that had damage or something on the skin and was leaking when curing. Didn't store it away with the others and baked it for dinner. Tasted ok, probably just a lack of curing on it or it's slightly under ripe.
