CW: Photo GeoLocation Project
59%. Finished with Egypt, now geolocating my 2006 Great Ocean Walk. This is really challenging, as there is no Street View and I have to rely on cross-linking clues in my photos with how long I've walked since the last good location (or how long to the next good location). My walking pace is very slow as it's all up and down and I'm carrying 20+ kg of stuff on my back. Plus, I'm often lost.

During the #bushwalk near the Gravity Discovery Centre that @leece mentioned a couple of days ago, I managed to grab a few shots of some of our local wildlife, and a couple of very nice landscapes and still-lifes.
So here comes the #photography.

Today my mother and I did our weekly bushwalk… on this occasion we did a walk on the Eugenia circuit at Mt. Coot-tha.
For this, we parked at Grey Gums picnic area, just beside Channel 7. The recent rains meant I had an opportunity to play around with some long exposure photos at Simpson's Falls… which are flowing quite strongly.
The total distance covered was ~3km. It took us about 1½ hours.

Quick trip to summit of Mt Cannibal just an hour away from Melbourne. It was severely burnt in 2019 bunyip fires and the regrowth is very dense on that side, the slightly burnt side is open and gives you an idea of what it must have been like. Didn’t see any orchids.

On my 14km Bushwalk yesterday in glorious summer weather in the Dandenongs I came across 4 echidnas, they all looked healthy and alert, one had a couple of ticks, but didn’t seem to bothered.
Amazingly on such a great day, I only bumped into a couple of people. Still a lot of trees blocking trails even two years on from the huge storm. Parks Vic just doesn’t have enough resources.

So, my workplace moved earlier this year from Douglas St. Milton… where they've been since the end of 2012… to a fancy swanky new office on Park Road.
The old office had space for a couple of bikes right out the front… a simple hoop affair bolted to the concrete. Effective. Fits any bike.
The new one has a fancy bike shed on one of the basement floors.
With racks bolted to the *wall*.
Great if you have a light-as-a-cereal-box racing bike I guess…
Anyone who's seen my bike, would know this is a workplace health and safety accident waiting to happen.So I took the only other mode of self transport I have available to me. I walked the ~10km from The Gap, to Milton.
I did this first on Tuesday afternoon. Then this morning… varying the route a little, I did a bit of the Kingfisher track… a small #bushwalk on my commute to work.
The trip takes 2½ hours.
I feel a little exhausted, and the ball of my left foot might want to murder me tonight… but I think things will improve.

I like to go for a walk early on Christmas morning. It's the quietest time of the entire year. This morning I walked the bush trail in the hills near my house. The sun was barely up over the hills and peeking through a few thin clouds. I could feel invisible spider silk on my arms and face and that's how I knew I was the first person on the trail today.
