A Stopgap Repair Solution for Impatient New Olympia SM3 Typewriter Owners
You just picked up a dusty, but somewhat functional Olympia SM3 and you know that you need to replace the rubber body bushings to prevent your carriage from hitting the body panels and scratching the paint job. The problem is that you've got a lovely new-to-you typewriter in front of you, and you don't have the patience to not type on it until you've done this easy repair. I've never seen it mentioned anywhere, but I've got a quick, temporary solution that'll get you typing in just a few […] -

Replacing the Body Shell Rubber Bushings on an Olympia SG1 Typewriter
Over the weekend I made a major push on beginning restoration of the Olympia SG1 standard typewriter I picked up this past month. One of the small issues I encountered was finding four crushed rubber bushings between the exterior typewriter shell and the main chassis at the four corners on the bottom of the machine. [caption id="attachment_55834794" align="aligncenter" width="660"] This black rubber bushing is so smashed you almost can't see it above the silver screw head at the bottom […] -

@indutny That sounds a bit weird that there were click sounds when you used #Bones #bushings with #IndependentTrucks. I don't use the original washers, but the top washer from the Bones set. This usually works fine for me. If I hear strange sounds coming from the truck, I usually disassemble the truck and take a candle and rub the candle wax on the metal parts of the truck (all aluminum parts as well as the kingpin including the thread). Sound is gone then, usually.

@vital876 The built-in #skateboard #bushings are often too soft. You can tighten them somewhat. For some tightening the screw is sufficient, but I instantly buy new harder bushings on a new board.
One of the best are Bones bushings (https://www.skateone.com/bones-wheels-bushing-hard-pack). You can get them in hard 96A or medium 91A (soft 81A is probably similar to your built-in bushings) -
