I will say, though, that despite perhaps but meeting the quality bar of other restaurants, Cora's in #Burnside had friendly staff and very fast service. Marginally less expensive too.

They're also replacing some ancient railroad ties at the site in parallel work.

Sure, it may take 150 years, but eventually perennially cash-strapped Oregon gets it repaired! If... if the weather cooperates. Which, as they point out at the end of the email, applies here.

A more realistic announcement: "Sometime, in nice weather, maybe beginning on the 13th, we'll close the overpass to begin weather-dependent work there. Sometime, in nice weather, hopefully before summer arrives, we'll finish up!"

Just did a back-of-the envelope calculation with #Burnside's Lemma - no program - and the number 284 came out (errors extremely likely, but at least it's a whole number 😁😁😁).

I counted
3^8 for the identity +
6 * 3^2 for patterns invariant under quarter rotation around vertex
3 * 7^2 for half rotation around vertex
6 * 3^2 for half rotation around an edge
no patterns are invariant under rotations around faces

I still am meeting people who do not know about this.

#Jail should not be a death sentence!
Elizabeth Fry of Mainland NS writes: At the young age of 36, Sarah passed away from pneumonia while incarcerated at #Burnside (Central Nova Correctional Facility). This should not have happened. Sarah's preventable death was a consequence of putting a vulnerable, #marginalized #Indigenous woman in jail who shouldn't have been there in the first place. We are calling for a public inquiry into Sarah's death and the circumstances that led to it.
